NS13 Modifications?

I was adventuring in disguise at the Pirate's, and had this adventure. But instead of 15 smarm, I had 300 !

Anyone else had this happening to them?

Yea, I also recieved this message. But, it took a very long time. Is it now rare?

  • On the radio show, Jick mentioned possibly modifying the mechanic for getting the abridge dictionary. After some complaints about the potential for gaining drunkeness while adventuring in the Cove in disguise, the alternative was suggested that when looking for the dictionary, you are guaranteed of gaining drunkeness, but only once, then you get the dictionary. Perhaps the stat increase is the trade of for the implementation of this mechanic? (Of course this is wild speculation, with no evidence other than I got the adventure before I got the dictionary.)

  • Yeah, Jick confirmed this mechanic on the radio show (28 June 07), to get the dictionary, you are guaranteed that you get this adventure precisely once, so that the drunkeness isn't random.

I just spent my last 25+ turns disguised and still didn't get this adventure. Had level 9 quest activated and everything but my drunkenness was one away from max. Anyone else have troubles getting this to occur while sitting next to max drunkeness or just RNG hate? --lucasw 10:52, 9 July 2007 (CDT)

  • With 19 drunkenness, I was able to get this adventure. That said, on a previous run, I had trouble activating this adventure at 19 drunkenness with ~30 adventures, so maybe it was a problem (around July) that has since been corrected. --Tawal 00:22, 29 October 2007 (CDT)
