Observed effects
I got Healthy Green Glow, Ghostly Shell, Antihangover, Fireproof Lips, and Arcane in the Brain --Lemon-claw 01:21, 6 May 2010 (UTC)
some more --Lemon-claw 01:34, 6 May 2010 (UTC) Concentration, La Bamba, Man's Worst Enemy
I just got Pasta Oneness from this. I'm wondering if this is limited to the positive buffs a la hookah, or the full effect set? --Parse 23:24, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
- By Grimace do you mean Grimace (effect)?
I received 4 adventures of Happy Trails, 4 --Durgle 15:41, 2 April 2010 (UTC)adventures of Oh Snap, 4 adventures of Antarctic Memories, 4 adventures of Turtle Titters, and 4 adventures of Digitally Converted using 5 of these.--Durgle 23:47, 1 April 2010 (UTC) Also 4 adventures of Meatwise, 4 adventures of Carrion' On, and 4 adventures of Cruisin' for a Bruisin' from 3 more of these. It seems it's always 4 adventures.--Durgle 23:50, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
I received 4 turns of Brother Smothers's Blessing. I would guess it acts as a hookah by the looks of things so far. --RebusSohal 12:38, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
I expect it runs exactly the same effect list as the Hookah. They aren't going to be maintaining two lists. --Hippoking 16:56, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Got 4 adventures of Sugar Smacks, Slimily Speedy, and Mucilaginous Mentalism here. Betcha anything it's a hookah potion. Until we get it confirmed thought it might be best to see if it gives out any negative effects.--Allodoxaphobe 04:32, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
You acquire an effect: Memento Moiré (duration: 4 Adventures) Jihiro 15:47, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
You acquire an effect: On the Trail (duration: 4 Adventures) ...Weirdly enough, it was set to Mer-Kin Scavengers, even though I've never had the effect on them before, and spent the last 50 adventures in the "Fun" house. --Chillydragon 08:33, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
I got Comic Violence, Feet of Grapefruit, and Yuletide Sappiness. --Loretta Mcfunk 17:54, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
I've used 525 potions and gotten 315 effects so far. I'm still working on it. Page with findings so far. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 20:47, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
- Now at 1000 potions for 421 unique effects, results on page above. Some effects I suspect it can give out, like Mucilaginous Moxiousness, I still haven't seen. More testing needed. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 17:45, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
- At 1385 potions and 453 effects. Results in same location. Still missing Mucilaginous Moxiousness (and others). Stats mavens: after I get every effect at least twice, would that be safe to say I seen all it can give out? These potions are getting more expensive. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 22:29, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
- That would be reasonable certainty, but I'm afraid you're underestimating how long that might take. For instance, if you're waiting to see one specific effect again, it would take more than 300 turns fully half the time. From very rough calculations, I think you could spend about 3 times the turns you've spent so far and still not meet your condition. Unfortunately, that really is about the number of turns needed to be really certain.--Starwed 23:30, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
- Turns? What are these turns you speak of? Are you thinking I'm adventuring with a hookah? Nope. I'm using one multi to farm for meat, buying potions from the mall, then giving them to another multi that never adventures. Excluding the AT buffs lost when I changed outfits, I've to all of the effects from all of the potions still running on that account. I'm prepared to continue for a while longer, but it's slow. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 23:52, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
- Ah, just a brain-typo! :) Most of the time these things are limited by turns, here it's by meat for items. Btw, it would be statistically unlikely if you weren't missing some effects at this point. To get a rough calculation of how much longer it will take, note that in ~1400 uses, you've seen ~13% of the effects only once. That's the fraction that you'll see only once every 1300 turns. 60*(.13)^2 = 1, so it's actually somewhat likely for there to be one of those 60 effects that you won't see again in the next 2800 uses.
- Another type of calculation that's easy to do: pick a specific effect, and calculate the odds that it appears zero times in X potion uses-- ([N-1]/N)^X, where N is the total number of effects to pick from.
- if N is ~450, and X is 1385, then that would be about on order of ~5%. Given that there are a few hundred effects to choose from, it's almost certain that you've missed several.
- To calculate how many uses you'll need to be pretty sure of seeing them all, you can assume that when the probability of missing any given effect is low enough, the chance of missing a single one is just the sum of all the individual miss chances. So you want N*( [N-1]/N)^X =.05 to be 95% certain. For X~=460, you're looking at about 4000 total uses. That's pretty close to the threshhold number I got above, so I think that's a valid answer. If you want to be really sure write (or get someone else to write) a quick computer simulation of what you're doing. --Starwed 00:25, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- At 2425 potions and 483 effects now (including one from the July IOTM), just 10 seen exactly once. So by that formula, I seem to be half-way there now.
483 * (((483-1) / 483)**4423) = 3.17119382794991 At x = 4423, get 0.0504473023245211 At n = 485, x = 4443, get 0.0504822746014738 2018 potions to go!

4525 potions used, 491 effects, 487 effects seen more than once. I'm still not confident that all of the effects that existed when this rolled out have been seen (What's That Smell? was seen for the first time at potion 2563, and hasn't been seen twice). And I'm confident that more effects from the Juju Mojo Mask and Greatest American Pants are possible but haven't been seen. But with the price now at more than 15k meat each, I'm not sure I can test much more. This page has all of the effects and the order that they were seen. My private notes also include the date of each usage and I can share that if people want to know to, eg, compare with effects known to be available at that date. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 17:20, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
I've used over 13,000 of these now and seen more than 700 effects. My Potion Effects page now includes the dates seen. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 22:33, 10 May 2013 (UTC)
