autocat

  • just noticed that she's missing from Category:Dudes. why isn't she autocatted? --Evilkolbot (talk) 12:14, 3 April 2014 (UTC)
    • That was done back in 2006...can't see any reason why, at least not at this point, so I removed the "autocat=no". --Fig bucket (talk) 21:43, 3 April 2014 (UTC)

Page Split

This page is becoming overwhelmingly long. Perhaps it should be split into three pages: The Naughty Sorceress (First Form), The Naughty Sorceress (Second Form), and The Naughty Sorceress (Third Form)? --Gymnosophist 08:10, 30 Aug 2005 (Central Daylight Time)

  • Agree! Agree! Agree! (The "Uh oh" links could even lead to the page for the next form.) --Baltar 12:55, 30 Aug 2005 (Central Daylight Time)
  • Makes perfect sense to me. Banjooie 16:17, 3 Sep 2005 (Central Daylight Time)
  • I agree as well--Atlantima 12:59, 24 April 2006 (CDT)
    • I also agree. I'm also surprised nobody else bothered to do it until now, but it's done. --Quietust 17:01, 15 June 2006 (CDT)

Sorceress' HP

  • While fighting the NS as a lvl 26 sauceror, I defeated the first form with 3 spells. I hit for 106, 101, and 75 damage. I had 501 HP. I think the HP line in the stats section is not trustworthy. Exiting the battle with the 2nd form to spade the first with a clockwork detective skull, my detective skull deduced 299, 284, and 305 HP. I feel that this needs to be spaded. I'll get on it. Any and all help is appreciated. --Shaft1986 20:49, 24 June 2006 (EST)
    • Ow. I was using the Toy Space Helmet when fighting her. The first form started with 200HP as normal, but then she chose to heal, and her HP increased to 240 - the helmet seems accurate, since the total damage I did before defeating that form was 242. I was under the impression that the HP that she starts with is the max, but looks like I was wrong... What's the actual maximum? If she heals twice at the start of the battle, does her HP increase to 280, and so on...? ...and is this common knowledge already, or should it be noted on the page...? --Andemon 03:59, 9 December 2006 (CST)
      • The NS has no theoretical maximum to her HP, as far as I know. If she heals 3 times at the start of battle without being hit, she then has ~100 HP more than she started with. It might be worth a note.... --Hellion 14:06, 22 December 2006 (CST)
  • Did you have any HP or muscle boosting items on while fighting the NS? --Locutus 12:38, 26 June 2006 (CDT)

I just did a total of 778 damage. She healed herself three times. My stats are 149,146,223 , 265, 206

  • Since she no longer scales, can we maybe get one of those spiffy forms that shows her stats? You know, like substat gain, ml, hps, etc? Or am I missing it on another page? -- Asinine 02:04, 20 January 2008 (CST)
    • The fact that she scaled was never the reason that {{Combat}} wasn't used. I think it was more that the combat mechanics of the encounter were so non-standard that it wouldn't be useful (the Shadow Class likewise doesn't use the combat summary). If you're interested in HP/safe Moxie, they seem to be collected at Defeating The Naughty Sorceress. --Bagatelle 12:45, 20 January 2008 (CST)
      • I disagree; I think having her stats on her page would be useful and would be proper in keeping with the theme for all other monsters. The Shadow wouldn't require one because that is not a typical monster that you can use various ways to kill. And, I do believe the reason she never got her combat stats was because she scaled. That's why Baron von Ratsworth doesn't have any. But the NS has static stats now; why not post them without forcing people to run through multiple links for the information they want? (I say this because the first link on the NS page is titled "Defeating the Naughty Sorceress" but actually sends you to "Naughty Sorceress Quest", which then gives you the proper link. I generally don't mess with already-in-place wiki stuff, so someone else can change it if they want.) -- Asinine 04:39, 21 March 2008 (CDT)

Her third form HP is somewhere between 2^23 and 2^24. This is due to death by pufferfish spine --Raijinili 07:17, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

References

  • To who added "The Naughty Sorceress and her forms may be a reference to Final Fantasy VIII's last boss battle" to the references. How so? Could you explain that reference? I personally think it's more like Lavos fight from Chrono Trigger'.--JRSiebz 02:41, 31 Jul 2005 (Central Daylight Time)
    • I haven't played FF VIII, but I've played Chrono Trigger, and last battle with Lavos certainly has similarities with the battle with Her Naughtiness. But I think it's really a general reference to RPGs, rather than to a specific battle or a specific RPG. --Pcentella 20:21, 31 Jul 2005 (Central Daylight Time)
  • Guys, the Spaghetti Breakfast thing was on the 1000 Blank Cards site. It's a euphemism for tentacle rape. --Banjooie 23:19, 19 Aug 2005 (PST)
  • I'm not confident enough in this to put it under references yet, but the second form looks a lot like the final boss from Final Fantasy Legend III. It's a bit obscure, but it wouldn't be the first time Jick used an obscure reference. If there's anyone else here who's played the aforementioned game, please verify.--Discordia 15:48, 20 March 2006 (CST)
    • the only problem with the matrix 3 vs aliens for "this ends now" is that the former film sucks gigantic donkey balls and the latter doesn't. --Evilkolbot 13:42, 6 April 2006 (CDT)
  • Is it just me, or does the NS's torso in the first form look like a male body part? --Wallawalla23 10:04, 21 August 2006 (CDT)
  • I've changed "Lone Star" to "Lone Starr", as the Wikipedia entry for Spaceballs that is linked says "Captain Lone Starr". I figured I'd mention it here. --Damuna 1:19, 16 September 2006 (GMT+1)
    • Speaking of which, I don't think that's the reference. It's just a very common saying; Spaceballs just happens to have the same situation in it. There are likely countless other movies/shows/songs that have that similar situation in them. --Aabattery 13:12, 9 October 2006 (CDT)
      • I agree. Furthermore, that isn't even in Spaecballs! Dark Helmet doesn't say "look behind you" - he offers Lone Starr a handshake and then uses that opportunity to steal the ring ("Put 'er there." - "The ring! I can't believe you fell for the oldest trick in the book! What a goof! What's with you man? Come on!") --Quietust (t|c) 12:55, 15 January 2007 (CST)
  • Regarding the statement along these lines: "I could tell you that all your power comes from tiny microorganisms in your bloodstream and you'd believe me" - while it probably isn't, it bears noting that this could just as easily be a reference to Parasite Eve's obsession with the mitochondria as to the Star Wars' prequels extremely lame attempt to science up the Force. --Id the Mildly Confused 18:17, 3 July 2007 (CDT)
  • There was no mention of mitochondria. Do you mean midi-chlorians?Russianspy1234 16:07, 6 July 2007 (CDT)
  • The most obvious reference is R.A. Salvatore's The Spearwielder Trilogy, with the evil witch Ceridwen who was also pretty/ a shapeshifter. I don't have access to it right now, just though i'd mention it. --Sbakerj 00:22, 9 December 2007 (CST)

Cash vs Zimmerman

  • Seems to me that the "long, black veil" coming down might actually reference Knockin' on Heaven's Door rather than/in addition to the two Cash songs. FuzzyPlushroom 05:03, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
    • Cash 1959; Dylan: 1973. Seems that the latter would be referencing the former, no? --Evilkolbot 11:29, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

NS-13??

What's all this about the "eventual" NS13 update? I'm guessing that NS refers to the Naughty Sorceress so I posted the question here. What is the NS-13?--Aznpride05 23:04, 8 October 2006 (CDT)

  • It was probably covered somewhere else in the Wiki, and I'm sure someone will link to the forum topics. Basically, NS-13 is the plan to make the Naughty Sorceress quest open at level 13 instead of 11. Other content will be squished in to cover the extra 2 levels. --Squi 23:24, 8 October 2006 (CDT)
  • Yup. The page NS13 details some of the basics of the concept. --TheDotGamer 07:56, 27 March 2007 (CDT)

Naming

Do the other forms actually say "The Naughty Sorceress (2)" and "The Naughty Sorceress (3)" in-game? If not, these pages should probably named something like "The Naughty Sorceress (Lady)", "The Naughty Sorceress (Blob)", and "The Naughty Sorceress (Sausage)".--Dehstil (t|c) 22:33, 22 October 2006 (CDT)

  • Last I checked, they were labeled "The Naughty Sorceress", "The Naughty Sorceress (2)", and "The Naughty Sorceress (3)". The only technicality is that I don't think the first battle has a "(1)" in the name, but that's fairly minor. --Quietust (t|c) 12:55, 15 January 2007 (CST)

Her third form

Should something be added about Cobain Dougans' killed her third form?--Mesth 22:53, 26 March 2007 (CDT)

Familiar Debuff

Are we certain that the familiar debuff only delevels by 5? My Penguin Goodfella is listed at 30 (20 + bowtie + empathy) but the contracts are only costing 45 meat, implying that it's acting at level 15. is it possible that the familiar debuff ignores all mods except for base familiar weight? if this is the case, a note should be made of that fact. If this is not the case, why is my Penguin only acting at 15? --Nevalkarion 00:55, 7 April, 2007 (EST)

  • My 25 pound Penguin Goodfella was asking for 12 meat. Right now it looks like the NS is deleveling by ceil(weight / 2).--GoldS 00:18, 7 April 2007 (CDT)

Does the debuff work on Clancy? LizardKing 15:05, 26 February 2012 (CET)

  • Considering Clancy doesn't actually do anything in combat, it's not really much of an issue. He will give you close to a full HP/MP restore at the start of the 3rd form though.--Toffile 17:23, 26 February 2012 (CET)

Butt Combo Block

If you try to use a Knee-Head(-shield)-Butt combo and the NS locks it, does she block the combo as a whole or does she block each type of butt seperately?--Logiedan 15:27, 12 May 2007 (CDT)

Third form reference to Final Fantasy

Didnt save the text.. when you say 'it has taken more then half an hour and there are no save points!' imho will most likely refer to one of the final fantasy series, where fighting the last bosses can take a long time (took 45 minutes to kill one form sephiroth of ff7), and also features save points to continue your progress--Myst44 10:00, 12 July 2007 (CDT)

Stealing Unique Items

The NS just stole my spectre scepter! Forever! She blocked me from using it and it disappeared from my inventory, as if it was a normal item! I have heard reports that items such as the dictionary can be stolen, too.

1. Why would you use your dictionary in an item-thief combat? 2. sign your posts. --El taco 19:50, 3 November 2007 (CDT) waz here

Disco Bleeding?

I'm having trouble w/ the NS @ a Moxie of (w/o anything added/base) 212 and w/ the proper clothing/equipment my moxie is 297. (Muscle is 165 w/stuff 235 & Myst is 173/218) I've been able to get the moves in succession properly (w/ effort since she blocks so well) but she doesn't continue to bleed as I thought I understood she would. She has healed herself several times, and I've had trouble (first ever try w/ her) actually getting both parts of the combo done in succession. But when I do she only seems to bleed for a couple rounds and then it stops. Normal? --Hallehoopma 17:45, 6 January 2008 (CST)

Erm,
  1. According to Disco Bleeding, the effect lasts a maximum of three rounds.

Wording

"The first form consumes an adventure upon completion of combat against her. If you entered combat with one adventure left, you may continue with the second and third forms even though you have zero adventures remaining." This is poorly worded, IMO. Shouldn't it just say "only the first form consumes an adventure?" Then the rest is implicit, and the statement is less misleading.--StDoodle 22:27, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Spading

It is important to note that the Sorceress' forms do not have a critical strike, so if you are above her safe moxie, then she cannot hit you. Alternatively, if you are below her safe moxie, she can hit you.

She is not subject to ML variance.

Form 1:

  • She hit me 1/50 at 197 moxie
  • After 1 heal: 459 < HP <= 515
  • After two healings: 603 < HP <= 667
  • Base, form 1 has 399 < HP <= 407. Almost certainly 400 exactly.
  • Shimmers (removes de-leveling) at -21 ML, but not at -20 ML

Form 2:

  • She hit me 8/50 at 209 moxie
  • She hit me 10/50 at 210 moxie
  • She hit me 3/50 at 211 moxie
  • She hit me 3/50 at 212 moxie
  • She hit me 1/50 at 213 moxie
  • She hit me 1/100 at 214 moxie
  • She hit me 0/150 at 215 moxie
  • Removes de-leveling at -26 ML, but not at -25 ML
  • Base health: 596 < HP <= 603
  • After 1 heal: 723 < HP <= 787

So, this is a lot of good information. Looks like form 1 has 400 HP, and form 2 has 600 HP, and healing probably heals 100-125? HP. Form 1 removes de-leveling when you get her de-leveled by 21, but not 20. Form 2 removes de-leveling when you delevel her by 26, but not 25. Form 2's safe moxie is at least 215, though clearly at 209+, getting hit isn't all that common. --MindlessGames 01:19, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

  • I got hit not at all by any form with 271 moxie and +10 ML. It surprised the hell out of me. Rincebrain 07:33, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

Sugar sheet items

As a consequence of the first form using an adventure, sugar items are eligible to break upon entering the second form. Maybe obvious to everyone already, but it was a bit of an inconvenient surprise for me :). Mikachu 09:20, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Drops???

I just got this message from Jick this morning:

Hello there!

The Naughty Sorceress forgot to drop these when you last defeated her! Enjoy!

Unicorns and ponies, Your Pal Jick

You acquire an item: plexiglass pinky ring You acquire 3 cans of Breathetastic™ Premium Canned Air

Since when did the NS start dropping items? Also, has anyone else gotten this message from Jick? --Lycander 13:30, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

Pretty much everybody got that message. Given the updates to Valhalla, the old ascension rewards presumably are now dropped by the Naughty Sorceress instead of being given to when you read the Letter from King Ralph XI. --Quietust (t|c) 13:48, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

Critical Hits

On April 25, 2011, the sorceress was given critical hits. Any of her attack messages may be a critical hit, unlike other monsters who only have one attack message being the critical hit message. spading here --RoyalTonberry 21:44, 20 July 2011 (CEST)

Bug? / Blocking Noodles of Fire

During a recent fight with the NS, I cast Noodles of Fire, which were then not active when NS blocked my attack only to return when attacks after that succeeded. Can anyone else confirm? Kashieda 14:49, 5 January 2012 (CET)
