Talk:Opera mask
Does this have any use? It seems fairly useless, and I've tried adventuring with it in the Ballroom to no effect.--Keiron 01:01, 21 September 2006 (CDT)
Try casting an accordion thief buff while wearing one. Two castings of Sonata of Sneakiness yielded 42 turns and resulted in the destruction of the mask.--Worlds Number 1 Grandpa 02:36, 21 September 2006 (CDT)
I had my doubts about this so i tried it myself. Casting Moxius Madrigal x 10 with Rock and Roll legend: "You play The Moxious Madrigal, with yourself as your audience. (210 Adventures) You acquire an effect: The Moxious Madrigal (duration: 210 Adventures)
After you play your song, you become filled with rage. You unleash an anguished cry of self-loathing, tear the opera mask from your face and throw it against the floor, shattering it into a thousand tiny fragments.
Suddenly and inexplicably, a chandelier drops out of nowhere and crashes on the floor about five feet away from you."
42 / 30 = 1.4
210 / 150 = 1.4
It seems it adds 40% to the length of your buffs. --Ion42 15:29, 21 September 2006 (CDT)
- yup, i get the same thing. very useful for players above level thirty, no? i have two feelings. 1. buffbots are going to get cheaper. 2. this is going to get
nerfedadjusted sharpish. (purple snowcone?) --Evilkolbot 16:43, 24 September 2006 (CDT)
- I say that's doubtful. If you look at what you have to go through to get to the area where it drops, the toughness of the monsters in that area, and the fact that it's worse than useless in regard to in-battle protection (except perhaps if worn when fighting the NS), and that the mask is destroyed if the 40% increase in buff duration comes into play, I'd say that nerfing the buff duration increase would leave this item with no use whatsoever. --Nucleon 17:31, 24 September 2006 (CDT)
Has anyone combined this and a brainy skull? --Unnatural20 20:53, 2 October 2006 (CDT)
How often do you get one ? And is one mask destroyed per song, right ? Someone has to check the chance of getting one, and Dear Lord, seems that someone is me.
-- OK, this are the results: in 70 adventures, I got 18 times the choise to Investigate the organ, and 10 masks thereafter = 55% chance and that's my final word. --Fernando Bono 10:55, 3 October 2006 (CDT)
What was fixed that the 19 July 2010 minor update describes as "Fixed a bug where casting a buff with the opera mask on the Mad Hatrack would cause spaceships to start punching each other"? --Club (#66669) (Talk) 23:49, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
- If you had an opera mask equipped on a Mad Hatrack, you would get the +40% bonus to amount cast, and your hat would be destroyed. Your main hat. Not the opera mask. So if you had any hat at all on your head, it'd get destroyed. Although, if you didn't have a hat, it wouldn't do anything, the opera mask remains intact, and you can cast again. Infinite uses of the opera mask! --RoyalTonberry 00:13, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
- Also, spaceships would punch each other! As cool as that was, it was an even more destructive bug than infinite mask usage. Truly horrific. --Bale 05:33, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
