Talk:Sabre-toothed goat

From A KoL Wiki

"The attack that gives you "the urge to visit the theatre" may be a reference to The Phantom of the Opera." It's more likely a play on the spelling of "sabre". Sabre, theatre, spectre are all 're' spellings, and this is probably a matter of consonance.

  • I would doubt that it was only a matter of consonance (although it IS possible that you are right), but the reference does need to be explained. --Aardvark 02:54, 30 Sep 2005 (MDT)
  • I agree with Mr. Blonde's explanation. Without knowing any specific reference, I assumed it was just fun with "-re" words. If that is the case, I don't see that it needs a note in the References. If it's not, I still don't see how it has a clear connection with Phantom of the Opera. "theatre + spectre = Phantom of the Opera" is too much of a stretch for me. Consider that there is nothing in the concept of a sabre-toothed goat that would lead one to think of that story. Mr. Skullhead usually doesn't operate so randomly. So I took that reference out until a more concrete connection can be explained. --PaperWhiteMaskOfEvil 13:13, 4 Oct 2005 (MDT)

Could someone else try to verify the sabre teeth dropping? I could have just been my bad luck, but I spent about 200 hc/oxy adventures trying to get sabre teeth to drop, with an item drop bonus of +130% (40lb gravy fairy, peeled eyeballs, miner's helmet -- and I'm a packrat!) I did happen to get quite a few (5) goat beards, but they're dropped from more than just the sabre-toothed goat. Holler 01:02, 23 July 2006 (CDT)

Description

Did anyone happen to record when the words "and then eaten" were added to the in-game description? The change was recorded in the Wiki on April 9. --Baltar 13:41, 30 April 2007 (CDT)
