Talk:Skills Obtained From Items

From A KoL Wiki

I move that this page replace Skills Obtained From Single-Use Items and Skills Obtained From Multiple-Use Items, because seriously, why are we maintaining two pages for basically the same information. Seconded? --Johnny Treehugger 23:47, 3 February 2012 (CET)

I agree wholeheartedly! This page is a good idea. I'll go ahead and add the two obsolete pages to TheKolWiki:Pages for deletion. --Wrldwzrd89 18:34, 4 February 2012 (CET)
To preserve edit histories and such, it probably would have been better to Move Skills Obtained From Single-Use Items and then add in the rest. Who decided we should have two pages in the first place, when the multi-use page started as a table of just one item? :P --timrem 18:50, 4 February 2012 (CET)
It appears to be some fellow by the name of "Wrldwzrd89".--Toffile 22:07, 4 February 2012 (CET)
Yup, was indeed me. I now regret my earlier decision to do that... it seemed like a good idea at the time. --Wrldwzrd89 01:38, 5 February 2012 (CET)
The histories can still be preserved by an admin copying the text of this page onto the first of those others, moving that overtop of this one, then repeating the process with the other. Once that's done, restore all of the deleted revisions, and voila. Page in one place, complete with merged histories. -- sulfur 18:41, 5 February 2012 (CET)
So shouldn't we also include skills that are tied to a piece of equipment?--Blargh 16:10, 27 December 2012 (CET)
From my point of view, those skills are rather borrowed than obtained, since they are still tied to having that certain piece of equipment equipped - like with familiars that have their own combat-skills. I would like to keep those at least visually separated by doing an extra table if you're going to list them here. Maybe a category (like Category:grants combat-skills while equipped) would be better for those, since it seems more of an informative thing to me, rather than a checklist of (mostly) permable skills. --Yatsufusa 16:28, 27 December 2012 (CET)

"Limited"

Would there be any objection to my adding another column with a binary switch of 'limited/unlimited' - mainly referring to skills like Mr. Store Skills, Crimbo carols, and other skills that will eventually be lost to the world as they are purchased?--Lxndr 19:01, 26 January 2013 (CET)

  • Table is pretty wide already. That could be put in notes column easily. "Item no longer drops" "Former Mr Store item", etc. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 19:56, 26 January 2013 (CET)
  • While I would like that column, the current table is really obscenely wide. Ordering by category makes what you were looking for a little easier, but still not optimal. I think a prefix for the categories would help, since the relevant fields aren't particularly wide. And I'll shorten Permanency's "Automatically hardcore permanent" to "Auto hardcore permanent". If it becomes an abomination, we can always do a rollback. --Yatsufusa 21:37, 26 January 2013 (CET)
    • It doesn't adequately reflect that The Joy of Wassailing is a no-longer dropping item. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 03:47, 27 January 2013 (CET)
      • Is it truly not dropping or is it in fax bot and can be received from a faxed hobelf? Serious question I don't use faxbot. --Chunky_boo 06:17, 27 January 2013 (CET)
        • Well, both monsters that drop it are in Faxbot's selection, so perhaps my concerns are overwrought. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 07:54, 27 January 2013 (CET)
      • You're right. I didn't see that because it was only labled as a "Hobopolis" item. Since you could have gotten it from the CRIMBCO WC as well, I simply labled it as Crimbo 2010 related. --Yatsufusa 14:53, 27 January 2013 (CET)
