Talk:Sushi
I just made some tables and consumption info on the sushi mat page. I guess they should be moved here. Also, yes, I had all the sea fruits and veg in my inventory, and they were not listed as ingredients. --Prestige 04:45, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
String when you try to force sushi without ingredients:

Adventure gains
The following were eaten with milk and Opossum:
- Beefy nigiri: 5
- Glistening nigiri: 7, 4
- Slick nigiri: 6, 7, 6
Theory: adv gain is 4-7 (or 8?) and not affected by milk. Or 4-6 and not affected by milk but is affected by opossum. Either that, or it is affected by milk and adv gain can be as low as 3, which would be pretty weak, since that's worse than eating 2 plain fish meats. --Prestige 07:28, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
The following were eaten with no milk and Opossum:
- Glistening nigiri: 7, 8, 7, 6, 6, 4, 8, 4
- Slick nigiri: 5, 4, 6, 5
Looking bad for milk. I'm hoping someone without the Opossum will post their numbers as well. --Prestige 12:08, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
- Added more numbers. --Prestige 10:39, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
No milk, no Opossum: 5, 8, 7, 6, 7, 5, 6 --Vegan 08:17, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
Consumption Logs
I was wondering - does sushi consumption show up in the player profile consumption lists, or is it like Hobopolis food/booze and doesn't? --Grimdel 18:35, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, they show up. However they have descIDs of -55, -56 and -57, and display "invalid description ID" when clicked on. --Prestige 03:22, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
- I ate some wise dragon rolls, but they show up in the consumption history as glistening maki (ID -65). —Yendor 12:07, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
- I agree. I finally got around to making a chart and attempting to consume each type of salty and magical sushi roll combination possible, and it now just shows up in the consumption list as its base type of maki. Can anyone that used to have their consumption list show magical/salty now check to see if they are still there, or if they changed it to base maki. I think this should be changed: "Sushi shows up in the player's consumption history, but displays no description if the player clicks their names." --terrabyte 13:22, 16 January 2009 (CST)
- Oops, I see what's going on now. I thought when someone said it shows up in your consumption list, I thought they meant "magical musclebound rabbit roll" (and all the rest). But "beef maki" does show up with descIDs of -64. I'm going to update a better description of this on the front page. --terrabyte 13:26, 16 January 2009 (CST)
I have eaten one of every possible combination of sushi and there is no trophy. (Not all were done with warm belly effect on, fyi). What I ate were the 36 combinations of maki (caviar/salt/none), 3 types of nigiri, 3 types of plain fish meat. As mentioned earlier, only 6 items show up in a player's consumption log: beefy nigiri, glistening nigiri, slick nigiri, beefy maki, glistening maki, slick maki. --terrabyte 03:30, 24 January 2009 (CST)
Maki consumption
OK this is going to be confusing, but let's start:
- Slick maki with carrot, no warm belly: You eat the sneaky rabbit roll. You gain 12 Adventures. You acquire an effect: Fishy (duration: 45 Adventures) You gain 20 Wizardliness. You gain 16 Cheek. --Prestige 05:19, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
- beefy maki with carrot with warm belly: You eat the musclebound rabbit roll. The fish mixes with the warm sake in your belly. Satisfying! You gain 13 Adventures. You acquire an effect: Fishy (duration: 55 Adventures) You gain 15 Beefiness. You gain 23 Wizardliness.
- beefy maki with no additions, with warm belly: You eat the beefy maki. The fish mixes with the warm sake in your belly. Satisfying! You gain 10 Adventures. You acquire an effect: Fishy (duration: 55 Adventures) You gain 13 Strengthliness. --Prestige 07:19, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
- glistening maki with cucumber and dragonfish caviar: You eat the magical wise dragon roll. The caviar on top makes it taste extra fishy. You gain 13 Adventures. You acquire an effect: Fishy (duration: 50 Adventures) You gain 25 Muscleboundness. You gain 12 Wizardliness. So it looks like for vegetable-fish combo rolls, cucumber is "dragon" and +muscle, carrot is "rabbit" and +mysticality, avocado is "snake" and +moxie, beefy meat is "musclebound", glistening meat is "wise", slick meat is "sneaky", and caviar is "magical".--Buttons 14:26, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
- Er, I guess that's not the whole story. Beefy maki with avocado and sea salt: You eat the salty python roll. Ooh, salty. It goes straight to your feet. You acquire an effect: Salty Dogs (duration: 10 Adventures) You gain 11 Adventures. You acquire an effect: Fishy (duration: 45 Adventures) You gain 12 Muscleboundness. You gain 22 Roguishness.--Buttons 14:33, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

It's looking to me like this:
- (Sushi based on) beefy maki gives 8-16 muscle
- (Sushi based on) glistening maki gives 8-16 mysticality
- (Sushi based on) slick maki gives 8-16 moxie
- Sushi filled with sea cucumber adds 20-30 muscle
- Sushi filled with sea avocado adds 20-30 moxie
- Sushi filled with sea carrot adds 20-30 mysticality
Except...I have two "magical wise dragon rolls" which gave me 34 and 38 Muscle.
The page says that base maki gives 8-12 adventures and filling it adds 2. I can believe it adds two to the top end - I have several instances of getting 14 turns - but I have several cases of getting 9 adventures from eating filled maki.--Veracity 14:42, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
- Were your high musc substats due to the muscle stat day (today)? Regarding the adventure range, yeah, I noticed your instances of 9 with sea vegetables. Either that means what you suggested, or that the sea veg bonus may be 1-2, or that the low end for non-veg maki is actually 7. I don't have a lot of data for maki without veg, so I'm not sure. Heck, maki without veg might actually be 9-12, and veg adds 0-2 adv. --Prestige 15:00, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
- Ah hah. Yes, of course - those two high Muscle gains were today.--Veracity 15:55, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
I just ate a glistening maki with caviar, and got only 6 adventures.--Alley 06:19, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
Same. with slick maki -- Jizwink
I've been eating maki almost exclusively on 2 characters for months now. The adventure gains on maki with (non-radish) filling is 9-15. So if the 8-12 base range for Maki is correct (I've eaten very few of those, as I want more adventures), that means the standard fillings add 1-3 adventures. This is exactly the adventure gains you would get from eating those toppings directly. I would wager that the radish topping follows the same rubric, but I've only eaten like 2 or 3 radish makis and can't say much about that yet, but they fall within the same 1-3 adventure rage so far. I've eaten 10 maki with filling and eel sauce so far, and have gotten the following adventure gains: 13, 13, 13, 14, 14, 14, 16, 17, 17. So it adds at least 2 adventures, and may add as much as 4 (or even higher, depending on how lucky/unlucky I was). I'll have another 20 eel sauce maki with filling downed tomorrow. --Flargen 10:47, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
- First off, thank you for gathering data. You say the adv range for base maki is 8-12, though some people (just above on this talk page) are reporting adv gains as low as 6, which is why I edited the article to reflect that a while back. --Prestige 14:58, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
- And that "another 20 maki tomorrow" should be 10. Mega fail at counting. How sad. --Flargen 15:40, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Fullness change
This page claims that nigiri is 2 fullness. Today, when I added Sushi rolling support to KoLmafia, I tried my sushi mat for the first time. I rolled and ate 5 nigiri and now I am full. Too full for a fortune cookie, even. Looks like fullness 3 to me.--Veracity 15:57, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
- Veracity - 1) thanks for adding sushi support to mafia. 2) I've got stomach and I commonly eat 7 nigiri, a fortune cookie, and a sleazy hi mein. I think that it's 2 fullness, maybe a mafia bug or Jick bug since he just changed some sushi stuff when the new ingredients rolled out? --Dqp 16:15, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
- Sure you weren't rolling Maki? --Flargen 16:16, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
- I had no seaweed. I was only offered the choice to make nigiri. When I rolled it, it told me "You eat the beefy nigiri." (or whatever). I suspect it's a Jick change - perhaps unintentional. I submitted a bug report.--Veracity 16:34, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
- It looks like not only the fullness was changed, but so was the number of turns of Fishy granted. I ate one with warm belly and got 40 turns, so it has gone up to 3 fullness and 30 base turns of Fishy.--Pastian 19:15, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
- Odd, I ate 7 nigiri and a fish meat today on one of my accounts, so if it has changed, it was at least more than two hours after rollover.
- ...and it's just been fixed. Hurrah! —Yendor 22:20, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
Maki taxonomy table?
It looks like the maki names are dependent on both the fish meat and the vegetable, and it's not a simple matter of "(adjective) (animal) roll." Maybe we should make a 3x3 table with all the possible combinations? What we've got so far is:
- beefy+cucumber: giant dragon roll
- glistening+cucumber: wise dragon roll
- slick+cucumber: tricky dragon roll
- beefy+carrot: musclebound rabbit roll
- slick+carrot: sneaky rabbit roll
- beefy+avocado: python roll
- slick+avocado: slippery snake roll
Leaving two combinations left to try, namely glistening+carrot and glistening+avocado. Also, I can't help but suspect that the new familiar is somehow related to the dragon rolls. I've tried caviar with each cucumber combination except (and this could be my error) the glistening one.--Buttons 19:09, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
- Ah, yes I was preparing a table just for the occasion last night. Thanks for the data! --Prestige 20:56, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
A radish and a slick meat (i think) gave me an 'eleven oceans' roll, minus topping gubbins. --Fireyflame 23:13, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
Magic Dragonfish familiar
I can confirm that it drops from the wise dragon roll. No effect needed. I got mine after the second one I ate. I do not know anyone else who's gotten the familiar from any other combination. I've eaten seven of them now and only gotten one familiar, so I'm going to guess that the drop rate is probably about the same as for the other two familiars after you take into account the access restrictions (ingredients, sand dollars to purchase the mat). --Lemonfresh 18:42, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
You eat the magical python roll... You burp, and a little fish swims out of your mouth. Looks like one of those dragonfish eggs was fertilized! You acquire an item: magic dragonfish fry. Looks like whether the name of the roll has the word dragon in it is unimportant. Presumably anything that has dragonfish caviar on it could spawn one of these little beasties. --Tainted Food Product 01:20, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
- Confirmed: I just got the fry eating a glistening maki roll with caviar, no veggie. --Alley 06:29, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
Possibility of another sushi type?
The source code for the sushi-rolling mat lists the internal name of the filling option to be "whichfilling1". Possibly there will be another sushi type that allows more than 1 filling.--GoldS 08:06, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Toppings and Fillings
There's not a lot of data around on these things. However, I think that base Maki has S=3, Q=5, making it 3-15.0, or 6-12.0 observed range. And then, I think Eel Sauce, sea avocados, sea carrots, sea cucumbers and sea radishes add 2 to Q, producing a real range of 3-21.0, and an observed range of 9-15.0. Then, if Eel Sauce _and_ a Filling is put in, it's still +2 Q, but from each, making it S=3, Q=9, for a real range of 3-27.0, and an observed range of 12-18.0. Just some thoughts. --MindlessGames 23:36, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
Doily
One data point:
- Eating Glistening Maki with dragonfish caviar & sea radish w/out doily:
- You gain 12 Adventures
- You acquire an effect: Fishy (duration: 50 Adventures)
- You gain 29 Muscleboundness
- You gain 47 Mysteriousness
- You gain 25 Cheek
- Eating the exact same food w/ doily:
- You gain 15 Adventures.
- You acquire an effect: Fishy (duration: 50 Adventures)
- You gain 20 Fortitude.
- You gain 35 Mysteriousness.
- You gain 20 Roguishness.
It looks like the doily is at least a 3 adv boost, used automatically when you eat sushi. --Valliant (talk) 18:43, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
- That's a filling size=3 sushi, right? So is it a flat 3 adv boost, or 1 adv/filling boost? --Club (#66669) (Talk) 22:08, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
More data: Eating plain slick maki with dragonfish caviar topping: 10, 10, 13, 11. Forgot to note stats. No extra turns of fishy. RegalStar (talk) 23:01, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
I'm getting the +3 adventures for Maki as well. The use text upon eating w/ doily, if anyone is curious: Eating it off of a fancy doily makes it even more delicious! Zebtrestalala (talk)
Right, here's my data: (7+7+8+8+9+11+8+8+9+9+9+10+8+8+9+8+11+10+7+9+8+8+8+11+9+11+7+11+9+9+9+9+9+10+11+10+9+9+10+7+11)/41 = 8.975 adventures on average from 41 consumptions of slick nigiri. That's up 2.975 from the average expected of 6 adventures -- this seems obvious as a +3 adventure gain, considering I got none below 7 and plenty of 11s in an ordinarily 4-8 range. added. --Cannonfire40 (talk) 05:32, 21 March 2013 (UTC)
bento box
If and only if you have at lest one of each of the 3 fishy meat, one or more white rice, one or more of the temmpuras and one or more sauce ( weeaksauce, eel sauce , or peanut sauce ) an option "bento box" will be at the bottom of the list with secondary drop downs for the temperas and sauces when bento box is selected. when the bento box is consumed one of each food input is consumed (3 different fishy meats, rice, tempura, sauce are removed from your inventory ) Sushi doily are effective, as is warm belly which grants additional fishy from all the meats. The total fullness is 5. --MadonKody (talk) 03:06, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
You eat the bento box. The fish mixes with the warm sake in your belly. Satisfying! Eating it off of a fancy doily makes it even more delicious! You manage to inadvertently drink a cup of that gross Mer-kin tea while you're eating the sushi. And hey, look -- the leaves in the bottom look just like a whale! The tempura broccoli, dipped in peanut sauce, is just about the best thing you've ever tasted. You are so glad you're not allergic to peanuts. You gain 35 Adventures. You acquire an effect: Fishy (duration: 90 Adventures) You gain 96 Fortitude. You gain 117 Enchantedness. You gain 105 Sarcasm --IMJack (talk) 15:08, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
Anyone else having problems making a bento box? I have far,far more than the minimum materials needed, but no "bento box" option appears when it's sushi-rolling time. Has the option been pulled or is there some other prerequisite? I even tried having exactly 1 of each of the needed ingredients in my inventory, closeting the rest, and still no dice.--Noskilz (talk) 19:29, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- It seems there was a rollout bug. Originally it did not require the Mer-kin lunchbox but now it does. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 19:43, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
OK, some data from eating three bento boxen: The first I had with cucumber and anemone (to try to find out the base stat values), and I got 133 muscle, 8 mysticality, and 9 moxie. The second I had with cucumber and weaksauce (to try to find out how those bonus stats were split), and I got 57 muscle, 14 myst, and 89 moxie. The third was weaksauce and avocado, which gave me 8 muscle, 10 myst, and 125 moxie. From this, I thought it most probable that the base stat range was 5-15 (because I had seen 8, 9, 14, 8, and 10, and was looking for multiples of 5). The vegetable bonus was likely 40-50, as I had seen (57 - (5-15), which was ~47), and the sauce was 70-80 (from 89 - (5-15), which gave ~79). My two sauce/veg combos gave 133 and 125, both of which fit in the range (5+40+70) to (15+50+80), 115-145. I do not think this is anywhere approaching reliable data, but it's all the data we have at the moment. --KingBobson (talk) 08:16, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
- Oh, and just did another one with cauliflower and eel sauce (the two most neutral ones I could think of). 43, 37, 38. Looks like 35-45 for that, so both give +10, or cauliflower does nothing and eel gives +20? --KingBobson (talk) 08:33, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
Bento box, warm belly, doily, eel sauce, tempura cauliflower: 31 adv, 90 fishy, 33 muscle, 48 myst, 32 moxie (under Mongoose on a Mysticality day). --Greycat (talk) 15:23, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

- Bento, warm belly, doily, peanut sauce, tempura cucumber: 32 adv, 90 fishy, 132 musc, 95 myst, 86 moxie. (wallaby). It looks like tempura radish does all-around stats, if I'm reading it right. DarkAxz (talk) 22:51, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
- Bento, warm belly, doily, mer-kin weaksauce, tempura cauliflower: 29 adv, 90 fishy, 32 musc, 40 myst, 94 mox (wallaby). Weaksauce gave much fewer stats than peanut, i'm guessing peanut sauce is all-round stats too. DarkAxz (talk) 22:56, 14 April 2013 (UTC)

The tempura cauliflower, dipped in peanut sauce, is just about the best thing you've ever tasted. You are so glad you're not allergic to peanuts.
You gain 33 Adventures. (so 30 without dolly)
You gain 120 Muscleboundness.
You gain 120 Magicalness.
You gain 116 Smarm.
last time, i received ~25 to all substats when eating bento + cauliflower + dolly + eel sauce, i got 34 advs. it appears that cauliflower adds 15 to all substats, and peanut sauce adds somewhere close to 90 to all.--The ErosionSeeker (talk) 21:43, 26 April 2013 (UTC)
I'm noticing no apparent difference between cauliflower and broccoli (when using peanut sauce, doily, and belly), either on stats or adventure gains. Anemone sauce is about 80 less myst and moxie than peanut sauce, from my single trial. Still no apparent difference in adventure gains. Which is kind of sad. You'd think peanut sauce would be worth more than just stats, which are kind of meaningless in the sea. --Flargen (talk) 17:00, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
