Talk:The 'Tussin
Possibly delevels opponent - The ghost of gravy (in-game name) swears up and down it either delevels, gives minus attack, or minus defence. This'd be a cool new way of delevelling, almost like a -ML buff. Very tentative though, needs serious spading if this is the case. --Shokwave 09:43, 24 September 2006 (CDT)
- Just Tried the Castle with the effect, and with a buffed moxie of 133 The Goth Giant Isn't hitting me. and I don't think it's my equipment or my effects. I don't think it's RNG luck either, The possibility giant didn't hit me all 30 rounds. Miss text w/stats, effects and equipment--RPGMarker35 13:01, 24 September 2006 (CDT)
Just to throw it out, another possibility is giving you a -tohit. I used a bottle, and happened to fight a bathtub in the haunted bathroom. It is supposedly ML 80, and I had +11 ML from the MCD (and no other +ML), and with 105 Moxie and a clockwork crossbow I was missing every attack. (Hooray to my pumpkin-wielding hobo who took care of the bathtub for me. ;) )--Terion 09:59, 6 October 2006 (CDT)
- Just came across a tub with it on and 142 Moxie, no +ML, and hit fine. Could've been Bad RNG Luck. Or the fact that i have higher Moxie/No +ML--RPGMarker35 07:43, 14 October 2006 (CDT)
A bit unsure how to do something like this, but here goes. I've only had the effect a couple times, but I've been noticing I'm getting the jump on monsters that, without the effect, would jump me quite often. Namely the monsters in the HitS. Maybe it adds to Initiative? It'd make sense, considering it says you "Have a buzz bigger than a beehive". --Lord Skrusti 01:00, 17 October 2006 (CDT)
- In HC, in the Airship, monsters were normally beating me in init, but didn't for the 5 turns I had this effect - far from conclusive, I know, but far too odd to be completely coincidence--Catkiller 04:02, 12 November 2006 (CST)
- I think it affects stat gains, since the Louvre is only giving me 299 Muscle each time rather than 300 like my calculations suggest. --Missingno 15:34, 30 January 2007 (CST)
- In the HitS, I got initative 4/5 turns I had this effect, compared with not getting iniative at all for ~50 adventures without it. Ershatz 00:33, 19 April 2007 (CDT)
- I'm using this in the Themthar Hills and, if anything, it seems to be decreasing my initiative. I get the jump on the bandits more without the effect. It also seems to make my Kneebutts not use their stunning effect more. --PsychoBoy 11:08, 07 September 2007 (PST)
I'm not a spade but I'd like to donate any bottles of Vangoghbitussin I happen to pick up to the effort. Who would be the best person to send them to? I generally get at least one or two in the process of mapping the Louvre each ascension. --Kitsunegami 00:29, 20 March 2008 (CDT)
Another possibility
I have received words from another player, Phyrefly (#1357319), that he got 5 Louvre adventures in a row while under this. He suspected that this effect would reduce combat likelihood. What'd you say about that? - Jeek 05:32, 10 July 2007 (CDT)
- I don't know... even without combat reducers there have been occassions where I have gotten Lourve It or Leave It 3 or 4 times in a row. I chalk it up to RNG alone, personally. And just between you and me, such a thing makes the nerfing of the Gallery seem somewhat inconsequential if you know how to work the Louvre.--Chira-chan 17:10, 19 July 2007 (CDT)
anyone tried getting a ton of adventures worth of this? maybe a trophy for, like, 1000 turns of it?--Frankfly 21:57, 27 September 2007 (CDT)
Initiative Spading - It's probably not an init modifier
Testing with a level 5 TT, 21 mainstat, no equipment, no other effects, in the beanbat chamber. (60 Initiative).

I'll get more data once I can scrounge up some more Vangoghbutussin.--TechSmurf 22:06, 21 October 2007 (CDT)
I also tried to see the effect of combat iniative and i got these result from the haunted library (75.6 intiative) c 80 adventures nc 20--Swatolo 10:02, 22 April 2008 (CDT)
Just to state the obvious, since the NS doesn't remove this, it is a negative effect. --Dunsel 11:47, 25 October 2007 (CDT)
- I'm not so sure... NS removes positive effects. Not positive doesn't mean negative. It could also mean neutral (no effect of the effect) --CG1:t,c,e 08:30, 20 March 2008 (CDT)
Perhaps this stuff works like all purpose cleaner... removing a random negative effect ("good for what ails you") in exchange for... um, something. Maybe a penalty to Mysticality, or to substats gained from combats? Bonkbonk 06:34, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
- Apparently there's no effect to initiative. At -50 init + this, I'm not able to run away from a fluffy bunny (over 7 turns). At -45 init + this, I am able to run away. --Deus Ex Machina (Talk) 15:23, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
Agree, very unlikely to effect initiative:
- Location: The Dire Warren
- Class: Seal Clubber
- Passive Skills: Torso Awaregness
- Intrinsics: none
- Effects: none except The 'Tussin (half of the time)
- Sign: The Platypus
- Equipment: Silent beret, Seal-clubbing club
- Starting main stat: 0
- Ending main stat: 55 (lots of food, Vangoghbitussin, etc.)
- Method: Alternating batches of 20 turns per condition to minimize effects of stat gain
- Without The 'Tussin: I got the jump 124 out of 340 turns
- With The 'Tussin: I got the jump 124 out of 340 turns
I acknowledge that the confidence intervals on that include a possible -5% init still, but it's not looking very promising as a candidate, especially given evidence against from other folks. I also acknowledge a small confound from the stat gains intrinsic in the effort, but they should work out to +/- 1% based on my method, so still not compelling. I think we can admit this is simply not the answer.--Mis2027 (talk) 16:39, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
Wait, what?
So... now that we actually know what the effect is... Wait, what? --Hrag 19:43, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
Apparently Wait, what? is a negative effect, it is removed by A Relaxing Hot Tub.--Sk1j 05:52, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's for sure now: we already knew that NS isn't removing it. --Hrag 07:52, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
We do not know for sure what the effect does. However, looking at the above comments we see that people say it changes their (1) initiative (2) stat gain (3)monsters don't hit them as much (or at all). This seems to me to conclude to -ML. I am going to try to confirm this. --Makka 19:14, 19 January 2010 (UTC)
- The game doesn't consider -ML to be a negative. Consider Fearless, which the hot tub won't remove. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 19:27, 19 January 2010 (UTC)
- it can still consider the encapsulated in the Wait, what? -ML to be a negative, though... --Hrag 22:14, 19 January 2010 (UTC)
I had the 'Tussin active while in Hobopolis as a quick MP gain. I think it affected my +items from monsters as I got the same number of items from Hodgman as I did from Oscus but had added +100% between fights.--Skipr 23:42, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
- are talking about consumable drops? side bosses give 1 consum per 100% item drops and hodg does first at 50% and then 1 per 150% --Hrag 10:13, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
While spading for initiative (see section above), I saw no effect on item drops that was apparent, but acknowledge that my strategy was optimized for initiative spading and thus cannot entirely exclude this. I also didn't notice anything suggestive of ML or stat gain, but these are even harder to comment upon given the strategy I was using.--Mis2027 (talk) 16:39, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
I can exclude any effect on stat gain using several methods in multiple zones. This should therefore also exclude any effect on ML.--Mis2027 (talk) 00:14, 5 January 2015 (UTC)
