Talk:The Boss Bat's Lair

From A KoL Wiki

Using a divine champagne popper on the bodyguards, prior to killing any, gives the following message. "Couldn't find an appropriate monster in the zone. Exiting." --Blastphemist 14:04, 10 April 2008 (CDT)

Nice. I was wondering what happened if you scared off every monster in a zone. Does the 5 turn banishment wear off even if the 5 turns are spent elsewhere? Because otherwise you just found a nice bug that prevents ascension. Has anyone tried banishing every monster from another zone, like beanbats? --Flargen 14:33, 10 April 2008 (CDT)

Updating, I went elsewhere (for obvious reasons) and when I returned, the first monster to encounter was the Boss Bat. That means a 4 turn bat cave is possible. It also seems to be a bug, but one that is exploitable and unlikely to be fixed. I'll try poppers in another zone next. After trying in two sections of the copse, it was failure. It didn't force 100% non-combat. So next to try is another zone with only two monster choices, and no non-com choices.--Blastphemist 14:38, 10 April 2008 (CDT)

  • Talk:Creepy Grin has a similar discussion about this, and seems to indicate that banishing bodyguard bats will allow you to count down the timer to Boss Bat without using any adventures and can net you a one turn bat cave (unless said bug has been fixed already). --Quietust (t|c) 16:48, 10 April 2008 (CDT)

Bodyguard bats

The hitpoints of the bodyguard bats are wrong. Of 21 fought, 8 had 24, 10 had 25 and 3 had 26. So it probably should read 25, but I'm not sure how HP is determined, given the variance. --Friederike 06:41, 16 June 2008 (CDT)

Not entirely sure how, but bonus ML seems to affect the number of bodyguard bats. I was facing the boss bat, ran away, and turned up the Canadian Mind-Control Device to 11, and another bodyguard bat appeared. I ran away, and turned it back to zero, and the Boss Bat came back. --will408914

New Limits

Don't know when exactly it was implemented, but I believe that today, there's a new limit when you use Harold's Bell or the like in this area. I got a message when using it on the boss bat:

"Unfortunately this is a very small space and your opponent quickly returns."

Something to know now when updating. Ruduen 05:44, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

New Accounts

I just started a new account today and just did the Boss Bat's Lair, I only fought 2 body guards before the boss.--Ashamalee 09:13, 3 May 2012 (CEST)

Today i was doing AoJ, and i got the boss bat as adventure #5.--The ErosionSeeker (talk) 18:11, 9 March 2013 (UTC)

I just got bodyguards on turns 110 through 116 straight and the boss on 117; I don't think I've ever seen 7 before. My minimum so far is also 4. --Vandermonde (talk) 03:05, 30 March 2013 (UTC)

Just fought 6 bodyguards before the boss bat. --TechSmurf (talk) 05:06, 21 April 2013 (UTC)

  • 5 bodyguards this time around. --TechSmurf (talk) 02:14, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
  • 4 this time. --TechSmurf (talk) 02:15, 12 June 2014 (UTC)

I just had to fight 8 bodyguards, with Boss Bat being my 9th fight in the area. I've never had less than 4, and 5 or 6 seems to be my usual number. I guess the RNG was feeling mean today. If it helps to know, this is during a Quantum Familiar run with just having started the area with a camel and that switching to a dodecapede mid-way though the area. --Rick Tyger (talk) 06:45, 14 March 2022 (UTC)
