Is this entire quest a spoof of Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle? -- Phoon 00:23, 5 July 2006 (CDT)

  • Yes, I just edited that in.--ZeLinator 00:51, 5 July 2006 (CDT)
  • Confirmed; every adventure, including the two quest items, directly references the movie, and quite closely (except for They're Not Dead, which only references H&K briefly). Riff et al. did a great job with this quest! --duffield 02:15, 5 July 2006 (CDT)

if you get the cat/cliff adventure, is it certain you'll get the requisite quest item the next time you could possibly get it? --Evilkolbot 12:31, 5 July 2006 (CDT)

  • I don't think so, but I do think you get it pretty soon after. I got it a few fights later. Pthalo 13:10, 16 July 2006 (CDT)

Raccoon HP

I did exactly 20 points of damage to an angry raccoon puppet, and did not defeat it until the next attack. Are we sure it doesn't have 21 or 22 hit points? --Baltar 14:48, 5 July 2006 (CDT)

I just got finished checking, it has exactly 21 hit points. --Linktoreality 15:03, 12 July 2006 (CDT)

New Image

There's a new in-game image for this area: it looks the same, but has a (1) next to the area's name. Could someone upload it? I'm a bit late, as I've done the quest already and can't see the area anymore. --Someone Else 14:48, 5 July 2006 (CDT)

hang glider and massive bag of catnip

According to a discussion held elsewhere, both of these items are one time drops that drop 100% of the time once the requisite preconditions are in place. --Gymnosophist 05:54, 22 October 2006 (CDT)

Spading out the combat frequency and the drop rates

Coming out of this post I decided to try and gather some data on the combat rate, and the drop rates of two of the monsters.

Running away from orcs, and with 211.5% item drops I came up with this chart. I am discarding the 1-2 time adventures, and removing them from the total adventure count.

Date Adv Dopp Priv !Dead Racc Orcs Hip Felt Eye Stuff Herbs odor Cord sack +/- com +item% Name
03.31.07 193 22 19 23 39 44 46 1 1 2 29 12 5 9 0% +211.5% j12601
04.06.07 23 1 1 1 8 4 8 ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ -5 ~ Drachefly
Dec.28.2007 22 0 1 2 7 7 3 ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ +0 +15 Kobayen

Feel free to add your own info to the chart, but please follow the format, including if you are running +/- combats, and your +item bonuses. Please discard from your adventure total the 1-2 time non-combats. If you are not sure of those things, do not post in that chart. Flawed data is worse than no data.

My item drop increasing goodies include: 40 pound fairy, Object detection, Phat loot, Looting skillz, Peeled eyeballs, Bauble bow, Miner's helmet, Baron's monocle, 2x rabbit's foot. --J12601 11:38, 31 March 2007 (CDT)

  • I wasn't checking any of the other stuff, but I did just run through this whole quest at +20% combats. I didn't get very many noncombats, but I did get one Doppel adventure in addition to the quest adventures. This means the the combat percentage must be less than 80%.--Salien 05:27, 27 April 2007 (CDT)

My item drop increasing was just Mad Looting Skillz, but I was pickpocketing like mad. Might we not want the mittens and mountain stream drops included here? Just because you were running away doesn't mean it shouldn't be on the table. --Drachefly 12:52, 6 April 2007 (CDT)

  • If you run away, you don't get any drops. If you pickpocket, the mechanism for calculating the pickpocket rate is currently unknown. --Hellion 18:09, 6 April 2007 (CDT)
  • How did you ran ~200 adventures in that? Yea, I know certain stuff doesn' happens if the items aren' in your inventory, but I couldn' Display Case / Closet the bags of catnip, nor the hang glider. So, my data is limited too. (Note: I have encountered the doppleganger, but not when I was counting)
Items recieved: Extreme Mittens x1, Filthy corduoys x1, Filthy knitted dread sack x1, Herbs x2, Mountain Stream x3, Orcish cargo shorts x1, reodorant x1; Item Drop +15% (Ratsworth's Monocle + Roboduck on a string). next time I'll try to remember to take a more scientific approach. Keeping Open Longer

I've run through this twice looking for the hobo code without finding it. So I was thinking of how to make this area stay open longer. My current plan is to use Harold's Bell and to keep the business hippy from giving me the catnip. Any other suggestions? --Club (#66669) (Talk) 16:32, 25 August 2008 (CDT)

Does running away from them not work? X1a4 17:02, 25 August 2008 (CDT)

  • A common strategy that doesn't occur to most people is to simply retreat from Orcish Frat Boys in this area, so that they cannot give you the hang glider, when searching for the Hippy Costume, especially in Hardcore. This exact same strategy will work for hobo code searching. Simply run away from a monster that would otherwise drop a quest item. --MindlessGames 17:06, 25 August 2008 (CDT)
    • Yeah, running away does work, but I've already got that trophy, so it's more of a last resort. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 12:12, 26 August 2008 (CDT)

Flock of Seagulls

I also had many combat adventures in "The Road to the White Citadel" where I ran into the "Flock of Seagulls" can we add this to the combat adventures? I can't be the only one. --CJaxTheEnforcer 17:05, 2 August 2011 (CEST)

2014 changes?

So I just ran through this after the supposed update, and nothing appears to be changed. Does one need to reascend?-Foggy (talk) 14:29, 10 June 2014 (UTC)

  • No, it's just a fairly subtle set of changes:
  1. The image of the sign to the The Road to the White Citadel changed.
  2. The Knight in White Satin now has an additional low-rate drop, a white page. Using the white page lets you choose a monster in that zone to fight, including one new one.
