Basement Diving

Fights

(What are the HP's of the monsters?)

For every class, using love songs in battle works. There are two cheap love songs, as the other four give stats/experience, and divine favors also give stats, so they're more valuable.

Also, birdform gives Vicious Talon Slash for free (75%-85% of buffed muscle), and for fifteen adventures (as well as giving bird drops), so depending on the price of gongs and MP, and on your ability to buff muscle, this is an option. Note, however, that birdform prevents the use of combat items and skills, so things like entangling noodles are rendered useless.

Nice things

Useful skills

General
  • Double-Fisted Skull Smashing: Being able to hold a second weapon gives you a ton of freedom. In particular, it allows you to use Saucemageddon with a chefstaff as a Sauceror.
  • Torso Awaregness: Unlocks an extra equipment slot, which is just a dang good thing. There are plenty of 200DA shirts.
  • Spirit of Ravioli: +25% multiplier on HP, applied AFTER class bonus and additive equipment/otherwise bonuses. More HP helps on most tests.
  • Impetuous Sauciness: Increases effect turns of Sauce potions. As a non-Sauceror, this doubles the cost-efficiency of those potions, and sauce potions will be a major source of buffs.
Combat
Specific
  • Wisdom of the Elder Tortoises: Basically a 150% multiplier to buffed MP, for Festering Powder.
  • Tao of the Terrapin: Will most likely end up being 400 more Damage Absorption, which is near-vital for the Gauntlet, and doesn't hurt for combat.
Buffs to get (say, from buffbots)

Equipment

See Dressing For Success for most things, but a few pieces of equipment are especially noteworthy for both their difficulty in acquisition and their power.

Clan Basement gear. A lot of this stuff is useful, but a few deserve a special general mention.

  • Slimesuit: A total of 12 points of resistance to all for those three slots is about 5 more resistance than you can reasonably get otherwise.
  • Hodgman gear: Just a lot of stats everywhere always. Get as many as you can wear.

A few things you would need to prepare for beforehand:

  • Brimstone gear: 100% per stat.
  • Plexiglass gear: A few of these (TT's, AT's, either Myst's) can be equipped alongside their Brimstone counterparts. S's plexi is +3 to all resistance, a rarity in the Accessory slots.
  • fossilized necklace: Decent stats when full, if not full up on Clan Dungeon gear. Easily, if slowly, farmable to full stats using copying.
  • Dallas Dynasty Falcon Crest shield: An Ultra Rare, so it's worth several million meat. Still, I guess you can pick it up and resell it?

Familiars

  • Hovering Sombrero-type: High monster levels = more stats = slightly easier challenge.
  • Exotic Parrot: A few levels of resistance. One of the only two familiars to help on the noncombats.
  • Disembodied Hand: Equips most one-handed weapons, and thus the only familiar to help out in stat tests.
