You notice a giant dial on the wall near some wires and tubes. It has three settings labelled with strange, foreign symbols.

Notes

The settings are shuffled each time through the quest. Each lair has three options: one for each of -20, -10 or +15 minions. The options vary depending on the minion type of the base. Labels are only legible if you have selected the Universal Symbology Guide from LI-11 HQ. The following is a list of labels and their corresponding result:

• Aquanaut
  • "Vent Poisonous Gas"

  You hold your breath when you see gas begin to seep out of vents all over the dome. 20 of the aquanauts are not very quick thinking and fall to the ground, having forgot to seal their helmets.

  • "Tap Salinity"

  You hang out for a while, waiting to see if anything happens. Eventually you see a steady stream of 10 or so aquanauts heading to the infirmary, complaining of cramps and dehydration.

  • "Red Alert"

  "Red Alert, Red Alert," blares the PA. 15 aquanauts dash out of the barracks.

• Minion
  • "Monorail Shutdown"

  Monorail is now in maintenance mode," a robotic voice intones. You count 20 minions trapped in the cars. Nice!

  • "Magma Lounge"

  "Med Team, please report to the lower lounge, we have 10 injured," comes an announcement over the lair PA system.

  • "Reserves"

  "Attention, 15 reserve minions activated," a robotic voice intones. Oops.

• Ski Patroller
  • "Roaring Fire"

  One moment, you see 20 or so armed skiers hanging out in the lounge, the next moment you see the lounged filled with flames. Cool. (Actually, hot and cruel.)

  • "Cryogenics System"

  A sign flashes above the nearest lounge, "Cryogenics Engaged," and you see 10 patrol-sicles inside. Cool.

  • "Equipment Production"

  You see a nearby conveyor belt speed up, 15 previously unarmed skiers are quickly armed as rifles and ski poles pour out of the system.

• Soldier
  • "Poison Gas"

  "Gas Warning has been set to Poisonous, evacuate lower levels immediately," a voice warns. You see 20 soldiers head for the stairs. Yay!

  • "Low Danger"

  "Danger Level Set to Low, the first 10 soldiers on the leave roster may now vacate," a voice announces. Phew.

  • "Cloning"

  "Cloning System Initialized, 15 Soldiers Generated," a voice announces. Oh.
