Witchess Pawn You're fighting a Witchess Pawn

As the footsoldiers in the Witchess army, these guys' role is basically the same as that in a real army: get in the way until the cavalry arrives. Sure, they all dream of surviving to be promoted, but for all but the most absurdly lucky, that dream will remain a dream. A short dream, punctuated with blood.

Chess is hell, man.

Hit Message(s):

He suddenly remembers he has a sword, and is excited to use it for like the first time ever. Argh! Eek! Ow!

He slams into you, and glares like it's your fault for standing in his column. Eek! Ooh! Oof! (hot damage)

He clonks you with his perfectly spherical helmet. Eek! Ow! Oof!

Critical Hit Message:

As you move to dodge him, you make the mistake of sidestepping -- which puts you diagonally to him and right in the path of his attack. (CRITICAL HIT!) Ow! Eek! Eek!

Miss Message(s):

He tries to attack you with a sword, but as a conscript he has received basically no training in how to use it.

He seems to want to keep marching forward, but can't because you're in the way.

He tries to en passant you, but can't remember how that works.

Fumble Message:

He wants to attack you, but can't because you aren't standing diagonally from him. Stupid Geneva conventions. (FUMBLE!)

After Combat
You acquire an item: armored prawn (100% chance)*

Occurs upon choosing a pawn from Play against the Witchess Pieces in Your Witchess Set.

  • En passant is a chess move in which a pawn captures another pawn after the captee moves two squares forward, when it could have been captured had it only moved one square.
