• Changes into almost any familiar, not just the ones you own. It will not change into the Comma Chameleon, Mad Hatrack, Disembodied Hand, Fancypants Scarecrow, El Vibratio Megadrone, Reassembled Blackbird or into itself. As of April 2010, it can change into any of the April Fools' Familiars.
• Due to White Wednesday, the Doppelshifter was in Mr. Store for over a month (closer to 40 days), making it the longest-running Mr. Store familiar as of September 2007.

• The name also appears to be a play on the phrase "Doppler shift", another way of describing the Doppler effect.
