• This familiar is a huge reference to psychologist Carl Jung (surname pronounced a lot like young), who worked with Sigmund Freud at the start of his career but then diverged. Jung was interested in the unconscious, including the what he called the collective unconscious. Jung kept years of his notes in a red-leather-bound book that is now called the Red Book.
