Pulling the drain I remember killing 8 crew for me as well, given that at best it reduces the number of combats by 10, it doesn't seem worthwhile, unless you aren't capable of 1 hitting the monsters but in that case you are probably screwed anyway. The only slightly interesting strategy I can see here is summoning cray-kin and man o wars to pollute the adventure queue with mobs that eat your supplies instead of crew. Revision as of 22:26, 8 January 2013

As usual, my diclaimer first, I'm no good with wikiage...

What I found is that both the monsters and the choice adventures influence the Crew/Crayon/Bubble configuration. The choice adventures also intro some of the monsters that don't seem present from the start. This would need a table for the choice adventures like "Put the toy boat..." -1Crew +4Crayon or "Turn On Shower Wand" Intro Hydra.
Also the monsters seem to have specific messages that indicate changes to the Crew/Crayon/Bubble like "Reaches into the cargo hold and searches for crayons. The sepia is the first to go." which results in a decrease of Crayons.
Although the final non-combat (for the day) gives out a reward it'll possibly be different if the initially mentioned configuration of 37Crew 11Crayon 69Bubble is exceeded or precisely met.
P.S. Final non-combat dropped Young Man's Crew Sequester for me. Which upon use says : "You don't really have an appropriate place to play with these guys right now."

Wondering what happens if you run out of one of the three Crew/Crayons/Bubbles before you reach the end...

--OldJanitor 11:23, 4 January 2013 (CET)

If you run out of crew, the zone ends and you can't go back in to the tub for the rest of the day.

If you run out of the other two, you can't use em in noncombats. That's all. --Cannonfire40 11:35, 4 January 2013 (CET)

Seems to me you randomly get one of the choice adventures from the noncombats, not necesserily what the wiki says:

  • First noncombat I choose sing a bathtime tune = lost 2 crew, got crayons and bubbles
  • Second, open new pack of crayons = got crayons
  • Third, ask mom for toys = got crayons
  • Fourth, put boat on side of tub = -1 crew, +crayons
  • Fifth, cover ship in bubbles = - ~20 bubbles, crew safe from some attacks? (Squid: A tentacle erupts from the sea and lashes at a crewman, but is rebuffed by the layer of bubbles protecting the ship.)
  • Sixth, draw coconuts = -2 crayons, slower roc? (Roc: In the distant sky you see an avian giant carrying what appears to be a coconut.)
  • Seventh, draw storm cloud = -crayons, protect crew with lightning? (Text: A heavy, black, and pendulous storm cloud appeared in the sky, seemingly drawing its power from the ship's ration of crayons. The crew feared that it was an ill omen, but the Captain told them to becalm themselves; he had seen such a cloud before and knew what it portended. The Gods were looking out for the safety of the crew, and the cloud was there to hurl thunderbolts at any beast that might try to reduce our numbers.) (Shark: The shark leaps onto the deck of the ship, but before it can devour a crewman it is struck by a bolt of lightning and flips back into the sea.) (Roc: The roc swoops down from the sky, but before it can grab a crewman it is struck by a bolt of lightning. Dazed, it circles around looking for another chance to strike.)
  • Eight, action figure overboard = -1 crew, +~20 bubbles
  • Ninth, pull the plug = -8 crew, -3 crayons, -17 bubbles, something about speed? (The waters around the ship began to swirl, faster and faster, until the ship was circling the edge of a vast whirlpool. "We must lose some ballast or we're sharkbait for sure!" the Captain said, and the crew hurled the treasure overboard, foam and crayons alike. The ship listed crazily to starboard, and a few of the crew fell in and were instantly swallowed by the raging sea. Still the ship circled the rim of the spout, faster and faster.)
  • 6 crew, ~15 crayons, ~70 bubbles = crew sequester. That was my jar of the day :) Should we make a table at the bottom of the page noting the different possible choices and what they give?

Submerging bubbles or possibly pulling the plug slows down the monsters (non-combats every 4 turns instead of 5, with 3 combats not 4). Page needs to be updated that non-combats do not occur on specific turns rather every 4 or 5. Discordance 13:46, 5 January 2013 (CET)

  • It might be pulling the plug. Submerging bubbles/drawing coconuts make it easier for your crew to survive the monsters.--Toffile 15:59, 5 January 2013 (CET)
  • I got non-coms every 4 turns and I didn't choose pulling the plug, pretty sure I did submerge bubbles though. Also worth noting that free run aways do count as adventures as far was getting to the next non combat.--Unwanted 23:29, 5 January 2013 (CET)
