The gila monster's weakness is a clear reference to Michael Crichton's work Jurassic Park, citing the fact that tyrannosaurs base their vision on movement.
The prostitute's vision is a reference to a similar scene in Family Guy, which is a double reference to the original work of Jurassic Park.
The maypole message plays on Bobby "Boris" Picket's novelty song Monster Mash.
The first line of the haiku is an obvious reference to the term "lounge lizards", referring to tacky lounge musicians.
