Copying strategy

Certain items and familiars, notably Items-of-the-Month from Mr. Store, let you copy a monster while fighting it in order to fight it multiple times without having to encounter it normally. This page documents the most effective monsters to target with this ability.
Most Effective
Copying these monsters saves the maximum number of turns.

| lobsterfrogman | Level 12 (Beach) | Both | 4 | Saves ~4-5 turns per barrel (in HC). |
| dirty thieving brigand | Level 12 (Nuns trick) | Both | 1 | Saves 8 turns by finishing the Nuns quest before touching the Battlefield. |

| pygmy bowler | Level 11 (City) | Both | 4 | Saves a few turns in The Hidden Bowling Alley vs. Olfacting the bowler. |
| gaudy pirate | Level 11 (Palindome) | Both | 1 | Guarantees that the second gaudy key will take exactly one turn. Usually Olfacting the pirate does the trick, though. |
| skeletal sommelier possessed wine rack |
Level 11 (wines) | Both | 1+ | Copies of these monsters can drop all six bottles of wine (instead of just three). Can save a turn or two of finding the appropriate Wine Racks. |
Notes
- Hardcore's most effective way to copy a monster is the badly romantic arrow. This provides two copies over a span of turns, or three copies with a quake of arrows.
- Bosses and most other special monsters cannot be copied.
