Talk:Ascension Rewards
I think the plexiglas and stainless steel items should be put into tables, but i'm tired of working with tables. Anyone want to do that? --Deadgoat 00:53, 24 August 2006 (CDT)
Other BM awards
after bad moon runs, there are no special tatooes? --Myst44 21:20, 20 August 2007 (CDT)
- Noooone! Jick is maybe going to draw some, though. --Ricket 21:36, 20 August 2007 (CDT)
Jick did, in fact, mention that he plans on getting around to that when he has time on a radio show a week or 2 ago, if I am not mistaken. --Saucalicious 22:29, 20 August 2007 (CDT)
- Can one get both the Oxygenarian and Bad Moon rewards in the same run?--Xclockwatcher 00:18, 3 October 2007 (CDT)
- Bad Moon is an Auto-No-Path so it is more Level Groundish. --Desertmagic 00:19, 3 October 2007 (CDT)
No Stainless Steel Rat??
Okay, so this game is all about references to pop culture and history and classical literature and everything and its brother you could think of coming from everywhere. Trivia shows dream of being this game. And it has an entire class of items made of Stainless Steel. All this, and not a single reference to The Stainless Steel Rat?? I'm rather annoyed. (I don't suppose there's a place to suggest references for inclusion in the game?) Kilyle 05:53, 13 October 2007 (CDT)

Outfit
Is it worth mentioning that the rewards come in a 3 accesory, pant, hat, weapon pattern or is that a silly suggestion? --Antoids 13:18, 21 December 2007 (CST)
Jick and Scully said on their radio show (12/17/2007 I believe) that the plans were for the ascension rewards to be outfits, but there's no tattoo drawn yet. I got the impression that it was not a priority. --Plater (t|c) 13:40, 21 December 2007 (CST)
Brimstone Items Pattern?
Has anyone else noticed that the Brimstone items are in a pattern of +Main Stat, - Tertiary Stat? --Antoids 23:10, 3 January 2008 (CST)
Uh... yes. That's kind of the point. --Wildfire393 13:46, 4 January 2008 (CST)
If this ever becomes important, which it may if the rewards become outfits, this is the overall effect of the outfits.
Stainless Steel Gear
Muscle: +30% Mystic: +30% Moxie: +30% Initiative: +15% Melee Damage: +20 Spell Damage: +20 Special Effects: 4x chance of Critical Hit; +20 to Monster Level; -2MP to use Skills; +2 adventures per day when equipped; +20% Meat from monsters; Maximum HP +30; Maximum MP +40; Free off-hand slot; Damage Absorption: +120 Note: If you were to equip the Brimstone Bunker in the free Offhand slot, you would have +80% Muscle, +10% Moxie, and 10 Damage Reduction. don't know why I think this matters.
Plexiglass Gear

I was sorta bored. --Antoids 18:55, 13 January 2008 (CST)
Brimstone gives also +64% meat and items, and +64ML. --Wou 13:07, 15 June 2008 (CDT)
Cross-referencing
My guildies and I were comparing different ascension rewards for ascension planning, and it wasn't until we ran across this page that we noticed the set bonuses from the Brimstone set - they aren't referenced on the individual Brimstone item pages. I'd do it myself, but I'm pretty unfamiliar with Wiki work, so I wanted to post here first. If nothing else I'll get around to it later myself after I've studied up. --HoseBeast 20:57, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
Special Effect from Multiple Brimstone Items
Does holding a brimstone bludgeon in a disembodied hand add to the special effects granted by wearing multiple brimstone items? If so, then it is possible to reach +128 monster level, not just 64, which would be an important detail to speed ascenders. --Stinkbank 10:30, 7 April 2009 (UTC) grouchotron
- jick has said on the radio that each type of equipment only counts once, so for the purposes of the hidden benefits you don't count the second bludgeon if dual wielded. AFAIK, the hand is just a second off-hand weapon slot so the answer would have to be no. shame. this is pretty easy to spade, my ascending character is in hco at the moment or i'd do it. anyone? --Evilkolbot 11:36, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
Brimstone + diembodied hand??
Just wondering if anyone has spaded using an extra piece of brimstone equipment with the disembodied hand, does this increase the special bonus multiplier again (aka to 128%) as this would turn it into a pretty awesome outfit.
- It's been spaded, and it doesn't multiply the effects. However, it does add the +50% muscle and whatnot, making this pair rather useful against Super Hodgman, from what I've heard. --Azeltir 17:48, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
Award Timing
Well, the "in a letter from King Ralph" seems to no longer be correct. Unless I'm missing something big, this must be a very new change - probably after the fight in Valhalla - and I must be one of the first to finish hardcore after that?? Because I just got my reward immediately after fighting the Naughty Sorceress:
"That's it!" you shout. "The line... must be drawn... here!" Your Wand of Nagamar glows extra-brightly as you wave it in complex geometric patterns and SUMMON AN ANTI-SAUSAGE.
The anti-sausage floats over to the sausage. You're almost blown out the top of the tower by the force of the explosion, but when the dust settles you see the sausage has been destroyed and your way to the king is now clear.
You win the fight!
Min does a little fairy dance.
You acquire an item: Instant Karma
You acquire an item: stainless steel scarf
Which means I can no longer enjoy the benefit of the item in my next hardcore ascension. :P
PS. Wow, I just realized I won that fight with my gravy fairy. Oops.
--Parmeisan 18:15, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
- Yup. Awards drop at the end of the run since the Valhalla overhaul. You get to use the karma at Pet Heaven to take an item of your choice from there into your next ascension. -- sulfur 18:23, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
Special Challenge Paths
This page is extremely unclear about which paths drop stainless steel equipment in hardcore, and which paths do not. It is clearer on the special challenge paths page, but there are some contradictions. For one, this page claims that paths with a different final boss do not have stainless steel equipment dropping in hardcore. However, this is not categorically true - KOLHS drops stainless steel equipment. Additionally, the special challenge paths page claims that Bees Hate You does drop stainless steel equipment, but this page claims it doesn't. Some clarity on that is needed; is there an easy way we can add an indication of which paths drop stainless steel equipment in hardcore? I haven't been well-practiced in wiki markup for ages. --Ac1983fan (talk) 23:56, 7 January 2015 (UTC)

well that's that, i hereby give up editing tables, forever --billybobfred (talk) 18:47, 3 January 2016 (UTC)
- The only issue is that '|+' is reserved for indicating a caption in a Wiki table. Just insert a space whenever the note begins with a plus sign, like so: '| +' --Baltar (talk) 02:35, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
2019
I have literally zero clue how to edit tables, but I think the page needs a new table for the 2019 rewards, and the new challenge paths need to be added to the list with their thwaitgold statues. (Preceding comment added by AppleSaws (talk) 02:15, 22 June 2019 (UTC))
2021
Seems like the Standard and Hardcore rewards have already been rolled out! Basic item and outfit information can be obtained right now, from the "select path" screen. --ADudeCalledLeo (t/c) 14:50, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
Suggestions for the "History" subsection
- Add a "Previous/Retired Rewards" (H3) header before the previous years' rewards list.
- Make each year's rewards table expandable, maybe?
- Change the summary of every year's rewards to:
*In <year>, the Standard ascension rewards were material (for Normal) and material (for Hardcore). **The special skills given by this equipment are skill (for Normal) and skill (for Hardcore). *Old Standard runs started in <year> will still earn these rewards upon completion.

Does Trendy give Unblemished Uniform parts?
Went through my inventory, and I found 3 Unblemished Uniform pieces: 2 scarves and 1 skullcap. Looking through my ascension history, however, I don't see how I got the skullcap. I've done a Hardcore Teetotaler and Hardcore Boozetafarian, both as an S, so the scarves make sense, but the skullcap...
I've done 4 Hardcore TT runs: 2x Standard, 1x Trendy and 1x Oxygenarian. The Standard and Oxy runs have their own dedicated rewards (stained glass, flagstone, plexiglass), so that only leaves the Trendy run...right? --Laytruce (talk) 20:40, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
