Talk:Heavy Rains

From A KoL Wiki
If the zone is outdoors, the rain level is unchanged indoor is +2, and outdoors is +4.
  • that has outdoors twice and underground not at all. copyedit? --Evilkolbot (talk) 12:15, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

byh2. this time it's fish. --Evilkolbot (talk) 12:29, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

Somewhere it should mention that a level 1 charater will likely be one-shot and that the Noob Cave is a good low-level power-leveling zone with it having high monster-level monsters that can't hurt you that also drop fruits and booze for cocktails. Had I known that I would have had a better first day.--Tombsice (talk) 01:04, 16 August 2014 (UTC) Oh wait. That where is the Strategy section. Stupid skim reading me.--Tombsice (talk) 01:09, 16 August 2014 (UTC)

Spading: Water Depth by zone

We still don't know the exact cut-off point where a zone goes from natural water depth 1 to 2. But we're close:

Does anyone know a zone with a stat suggestion of 39? --Greycat (talk) 13:16, 17 August 2014 (UTC)

  • I just recently went through and double-checked almost all of the standard zones, and I don't think there was a 38 or 39. It's possible the Thugnerdome or muscle sign specific zones might work; same with the Deep Dark Blank Zones.-Foggy (talk) 15:19, 18 August 2014 (UTC)

New Council Text

Returning with the mosquito larva (didn't get quest intro text): Thanks for the larva, Adventurer. This could be the key to ending the rain that's plaguing the Kingdom! Probably not, but it's worth a shot, right? You gain 500 Meat.

Boss Bat quest: Adventurer, the bats in the Bat Hole have been even more restless than usual. The water is flooding their caves, washing away centuries-old guano deposits, and they're not happy about it. There have been rumors that the Boss Bat has vanished, to be replaced by some watery creature.

Naturally, we're going to stay inside where it's dry, but we figured you should go check it out. And, y'know, take out whatever creature is down there at the bottom.

(upon returning, pre-completion): We've heard that the Bathole is flooded, and there's some weird water creature down there. Is that true? I mean, no matter what's in there, we still need you to kill it and bring back some proof.

Typical Tavern quest: We've received word that the owner of the Typical Tavern, in the Distant Woods, is having a bit of a rat problem. I'm sure he'd reward you if you took care of it for him. And maybe bail out his basement while you're there. Honestly, if we'd have known it was going to rain in the Kingdom like, ever, we would have put a sump pump down there.

(returning before completion): The Tavern Owner is still having rat problems, Adventurer. Why don't you splash or row your way to the Distant Woods and help him out?

Goblin King quest intro is same as before, but the first paragraph is amended to: We've gotten word, Adventurer, that the Knob Goblins, who normally keep to themselves over at Cobb's Knob, are planning a major military action. It must be due to the flooding that's inundated the Knob--they're in deep water over there, and they may be looking to expand their territory.

Returning pre-completion: We still need you to get into Cobb's Knob, Adventurer. Try searching through the mud in the Outskirts for a clue.

Friars intro: The Deep Fat Friars in the Distant Woods have sent a request for aid, Adventurer. Their Copse was built on one of the soft places in the world, and the flood has only made the ground softer. Creatures from the depths of Hey Deze have begun to invade, and they are powerless against the demons.

Returning: The Friars are still bugging us about their flooded Copse, Adventurer. Please squelch on over to the Distant Woods and help them out, won't you? Jimfromtx (talk) 22:43, 22 August 2014 (UTC)

Will upload others as I get there. Jimfromtx (talk) 01:31, 19 August 2014 (UTC)

  • We have a page for this. Please add the text there rather than here. — Cool12309 (talk) 23:35, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
    • Okay, didn't catch that, feel free to nuke this part then, if you want to clean it up. Jimfromtx (talk) 02:06, 23 August 2014 (UTC)

Start with Skills

My first heavy rains run I had an extra aquaconda brain that I used (it was discarded) when I started a new run after the intro text I had added: "An interesting-looking thing floats past, and you grab it." and got an aquaconda brain, is that because of the discard or just something that happens. --Chunky_boo (talk) 14:36, 19 August 2014 (UTC)

I don't know if this is a function of repeated heavy rain runs or because the previous run was hardcore instead of normal, but when I started my third heavy rain run, I got 2 lightning milks instead of the single lightning milk that turned up at the start of my second heavy rain run.--Noskilz (talk) 22:39, 8 September 2014 (UTC)

  • If you got only the two milks (and no thunder thighs or aquaconda brains in addition), everything works fine. You got +1 lightning milk as reward of your first HR run and another +1 as reward for your second. The only remark I have would be to max out the rain skills for this run and stop the other two skilltrees at 9 or lower, so you can use Rain Man from the very start of your upcoming HR run. ;) --Yatsufusa (talk) 09:26, 9 September 2014 (UTC)

Washing away / Slimeling

Bizarrely it seems to be possible for a slimeling to disgorge an item that's just been washed away (it happened to me with a dopey 7-foot dwarf). --Campboy (talk) 22:19, 18 September 2014 (UTC)
