Talk:Hoity Toity

From A KoL Wiki

It seems to give a % more in meat drops--Crazybrain101 18:55, 7 July 2007 (CDT)

I got no observable change in meat drops at the fluffy bunnies, (range was 7,8,9) so if it boosts meat drops it's by less than 12%. --Starwed 06:30, 11 August 2007 (CDT)
At the beanbats, I get 8/16 beans, so if it boosts item drops it's not a huge boost. --Starwed 06:36, 11 August 2007 (CDT)
The effect description strongly implies a +meat effect, but there is no meat boost.
All done at beanbats:
+24%: 38,43,47,49,48,40,37
+74%: 67,62,48,59,55,57
Together, this shows that Hoity Toity does not increase meat drops at all.--QuantumNightmare 09:13, 11 August 2007 (CDT)

In the Great Trip, I got 54 cupcakes in 200 adventures (skipping the fog each time), where normally, if the percentages are correct, it would be around 31 cupcakes, which would make it about a +75% drop rate increase. And yet I also went in the beanbat chamber and didn't see any increase in bean drops. What if it only increases the drop rates of high level magical items? The description does say "the best things in life" and "nearly supernatural degree of avarice." --Monod 16:38, 22 September 2007 (CDT)

Never mind - after spending more adventures unbuffed in Half-Astral, it looks like the drop rate for cupcakes actually is about 27%, so I see no drop rate increase for Hoity Toity. --Monod 09:12, 26 September 2007 (CDT)

location: Beanbat Chamber
number of turns: 80
equipment: Bounty-hunting helmet (and nothing else)

buffs: Fat Leon's Phat Loot Lyric
"known" item drop bonus: 20% + 50% + 20% = 90%

no failed drops
conclusion: increases item drop
magnitude probably 10% or greater...more spading in progress

location: Beanbat Chamber
number of turns: 20
characters: Eldarion and mis2027
equipment: Bounty-hunting helmet, Bounty-hunting rifle, and Baron von Ratsworth's monocle (nothing else)
familiar: none
buffs: Fat Leon's Phat Loot Lyric
"known" item drop bonus: 20% + 15% + 10% + 20% = 65%
note: no skills nor songs identified contributing to item drop
failed drop
conclusion: bonus is less than 35%

location: Beanbat Chamber
number of turns: 160
characters: Eldarion and mis2027
equipment: none
familiar: 20-lb. gravy fairy (baby or flaming), no equipment
buffs: Fat Leon's Phat Loot Lyric
"known" item drop bonus: 50% + 20% = 70%
note: no skills nor songs identified contributing to item drop
NO failed drops
conclusions:
- 1.7% false negative rate for a 25% bonus
- consistent with a 30% bonus
- bonus is probably >25%, is definitely <35%
Assuming 5% increment is most likely (i.e. that the value is 28% or 32%), then 30% is a safe conclusion. I will continue spading, however, to get some better picture of the magnitude relative to such increments. --Mis2027 13:24, 4 November 2007 (CST)

Total of 300 turns as above...that makes the value above 28%. Previous spading demonstrates the value to be less than 35%. I feel pretty good with a value of 30% at this point, but invite anyone to continue confirmation testing.--Mis2027 18:58, 11 November 2007 (CST)

Possible reference to the Flying Lizards' song "Money (That's What I Want)"?--Mahvelousmeat 13:26, 23 July 2007 (CDT)

The Flying Lizards only covered that song. -- Antaeus Feldspar 19:34, 23 July 2007 (CDT)

There is a boardgame called Hoity Toity, where English lords collect old stuff. --Nord 21:05, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
