Damage Effect
I recorded some data in the Lair of the Ninja Snowmen, against the Ninja Snowman (Hilt) and Ninja Snowman (Mask), both of which do cold damage exclusively and are listed as ML 85 on the Wiki. My character setup was: Hippy Stench, Temporary Lycanthropy, Extreme Muscle Relaxation, Beaten Up, Scared Stiff, Apathy, Go Get 'Em, Tiger!, Inspired!, and Empathy, with passives Amphibian Sympathy, Armorcraftiness, Hero of the Half-Shell, Pride, and Envy. With no familiar, and only a Brimstone Bludgeon, V for Vivala mask, and monster bait equipped, buffed stats were 347/25/1, with sleaze resistance listed as minor (10%) and the rest 0%. Except for Scared Stiff, nothing of the configuration is known to affect resistances, DR, or DA. An alternate 60% resistance outfit built on the outfit above, adding Red Door Syndrome, plexiglass pinky ring, and Insulated Trousers, for 60% in cold/sleaze and 50% in everything else.
Because of ML variation (±4), the numbers aren't nice and round, but I believe that the data point toward the scenario where the sensitive elements do not have resistance affected, and blindly double the damage done. Using the formulae on Weapon Damage, the following normal damage ranges would be predicted:
Attack (Monster Level) | Attack - Mox | 0.2*Att | 0.25*Att | Expected Low |
Expected High |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
81 (ML var -4) | 80 | 16.2 | 20.25 | 96.2 | 100.25 |
85 (normal ML) | 84 | 17 | 21.25 | 101 | 105.25 |
89 (ML var +4) | 88 | 17.8 | 22.25 | 105.8 | 110.25 |
What I observed was:
Configuration | Observed Low | Observed High | |
---|---|---|---|
Regular Outfit | Scared | 206 | 216 |
Not Scared | 98 | 102 | |
60% Resistance Outfit | Scared | 83 | 87 |
Not Scared | 41 | 42 |
The regular outfit not scared matches well with the expected damage; the scared regular outfit is about double the expected damage. For the 60% resistance, if this effect worked like Spookyform, the observed damage would have been a 100% penalty from the 60% bonus, for a net observed 40% increase in damage (at least, I think that's how the elemental forms work...). However, a doubling effect was observed. At this point, I think it's safe enough to note that sensitive elements have net damage, post-absorption, doubled for this class of effects. --Bagatelle 21:59, 2 January 2008 (CST)
- was backfarming a N while beaten up and had a couple other effects also. when i got Scared Stiff it removed all other effects and left me with only Scared Stiff--charred 06:38, 11 January 2008 (CST)
