is there an advantage to using high-difficulty planets if all you want is to follow a quest-chain? if not, can we always use planets starting with A as they are found? --Evilkolbot (talk) 11:31, 18 April 2017 (UTC)

  • It seems to me that for a guide it'd be safer to use lower than Z level at least... For the baby quest chain I was able to get Please Baby Baby Please at the planet MELONIA .--Watermoon (talk) 01:56, 13 May 2017 (UTC)


I have yet to see anybody mention on the forums that higher level planets cause you to get more language percentage, you still get less space rocks though.--Tombot (talk) 16:55, 18 April 2017 (UTC)

I'm not sure where this is worth bringing up in the guide, but there are items that reduce your current fullness and and drunkeness that seems to be drops from the plants and animals, possibly by using the zoological and botanical kits. These seem to be very rare drops and its not entirely clear how you get them, I believe its called somthing like 'Alien milk' and 'Alien spore' but the damned search is having none of it.--Tombot (talk) 13:22, 22 April 2017 (UTC)

N.B. The Major/Minor Goals table recommends ZIWTWNB for Intelligent Aliens/Murderbots; however, ZIWTWNB is actually 19 rock NCs and a baby book, as documented in the forums (and just experienced by me). Optimal Skillbook Acquisition

The following tables illustrate the expected number of days it will take to obtain each skillbook key, under various schemes.

Thus it is "best" to start taking the test after 2 days of Land Ho. Probability and expectation values were computed exactly. Some schemes have a (very small) chance of taking >12 days.

The following assumes that you can obtain 5 Murderbot data core from Recovering the Satellite on day 1. Example planet: THEAPES.

Here it is "best" to start testing after 2 conversions. If you plan to do multiple runs, the final column shows the effective rate when you factor in that you have leftover cores for the next run. E.g. you only used 1 Murderbot data core so you only used "1/5" of a day.

To obtain the final skillbook, I am assuming you don't buy any Space Baby children's book.

Every Space Baby children's book that you buy from The Mall of Loathing reduces the expected day count by 1. So it may seem "best" to start testing after 3 days, but it may depend on the price of books in the mall. Assuming an average of 7 days (6 to obtain the key, 1 to use it) to obtain each skillbook and an average mall price of 1.2M for each skillbook, a day is worth 171K. Thus if a Space Baby children's book costs <171K*(3.33-2.5)=142K, it is worth it to buy an extra book from the mall to speed the acquisition of Peek-a-Boo!. portable spacegate

The portable spacegate is not a 1 day ticket. It creates a quest item that is lost on rollover or ascension that lets you spend 20 adventures on a random planet. It does not, however, give access to the spacegate facility. This means no shop, no buffs, no turning in stuff for research.
