Talk:Spooky Putty sheet
So is Vanya puttyable??? --Lemon-claw 00:59, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
- No. --Fig bucket 21:26, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
I just copied the bad ascii art... so semi rare combats ARE copyable! --TheGreyArcher 05:20, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- Does fighting a copied semi-rare combat have any effect on semi-rare counter?--Thiron 10:26, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
Anyone tried to capture one of the Hippy/fratwar generals. Also do the copied monsters drop items? --Onilinkx 22:30, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
Can only be used to trap a monster so many times a day, I didn't count exactly --Abaddon1 07:49, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
To save anyone else the trouble, you definitely can't use this sheet on the Crimbomination. Heh. -JuiceDoctor 08:21, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
From spading done, so far you cannot capture the Sand Worm and Crimbomination, mimic (from the DoD, barrel full of barrels mimic is able to be captured), Fernswarthy's monsters, or the black puddings; but weirdly, the spooky pirate IS capturable, as well as absinthe monsters and astral trip monsters. Expect this to be fixed soon.
checking as many as I can, as we speak
--Needmoney90 08:55, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
Can capture hobos in hobopolis, well I only tested on a cold hobo but that worked, will check on bosses when I get that far. On another note, the description of the captured monster (which doesn't have a page yet, and I have no idea how to create) reads "This is a sheet of Spooky Putty with a picture copied onto it -- a picture of %copymonster! Yikes!". I think thats a bug and that it's actually supposed to show the monster name... --Mskc 09:28, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
As expected, it doesn't work on Frosty, and therefore one can assume none of the hobopolis bosses. (attempting to use on frosty gives the message "This monster is a little too scary for you to make a copy of it.") --Mskc 09:49, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
Use count resets on ascension. --AtroPhied 12:55, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
Some notes: Can be used whilst falling down drunk (results in combat with the monster fine). Can be used in hardcore. Used on a monster from the sea means that you can fight that monster out of the sea without the 2-turn adventure loss and without needing the scuba gear or das boot. --Bigcalm 13:33, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
anyone try on dirty thieving brigand? --DrizzlTALK 16:15, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
Does it work on lobsterfrogmen? If it does, it'd make it extremely useful for completing Sonofa.--Daultimate 17:35, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
This is very useful for spading! For one thing, we can see if there are two ancient insane monks. --Raijinili 17:42, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
Anyone try this on Guy Made of bees? Risen Jihad 18:58, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
No, Fails - 'a little too scary' - on Guy made of bees --Muskratlove 21:26, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
I assume that when this is used, combat is ended? Is an adventure consumed when you capture a monster?--Shademaster00 19:45, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
When used, combat is NOT ended. Combat continues and allows you to fight the monster normally. The sheet copies the monster, not captures it.--Hawksmoor 21:23, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
usable in HC? brokah if so.--Brion thenotgiant 01:51, 2 January 2009 (UTC) ...Still usable in hardcore (though, of course, even if they don't change this, it's kind of irrelevant after the item disappears from Mr. Store). --Bigcalm 11:09, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
I copied a lobsterfrogman over rollover and it worked fine. --Kow 04:25, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
Has anyone tested to see if bounty monsters still drop their bounties? I don't see why they wouldn't, and if they do, then it will make the 4-6 item bounties soooo much easier =) --Pastian 05:58, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
Yep, just tried it on Mechamechs, and it works just fine for bounty items. --12:04, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
This is unusable against any and all holiday monsters, recurring (FoB, for example) or otherwise (crimbomination, for example). It cannot be used against hippy/frat war heroes. --Crawly2 08:18, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
It can be used against war heroes, I just copied Danglin' Chad and it worked. --FatQuack 18:56, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
- Can we get confirmation on whether use of this item on the war heroes has changed or not? According to the forums, the sheet can no longer be used on them. --Gradis 18:46, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
-- Confirmed on a C.A.R.N.I.V.O.R.E. operative, war heroes are now "too scary." Dang. --Hoobity 21:38, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
-- Confirmed on a Glass of Orange Juice as Too Sacry --Muskratlove 19:16, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
Copied ducks from the Farm CAN be fought even if you've fought your maximum number of ducks per day. I copied a plump duck and waited until I was told there were no more ducks left, then used the sheet. Voila! Extra plump duck. My Hobo Monkey even got bonus meat from it. --Wombaticus 08:26, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- It's important to wait till the ducks have ditched the farm, otherwise, you advance the counter nomrally. --Brion thenotgiant 23:14, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
do you get 5 uses per sheet a day, or total? --Anmbia 12:50, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- You get 5 uses per day, total. Multiple sheets do not give additional uses. --Hellion 18:31, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
Captures a hulking construct, so El Vibrato monsters are copyable. --Fig bucket 12:05, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
Works against thieving brigands. I was able to finish the side quest without an outfit equipped. It seems to have counted for frats, since I get mana when massaging. I did the rest of the quest as a frat too, so someone would have to spade it the other way to see if it's always frats or the last used outfit. I forgot to copy it again and see what happens when fighting a brigand after the quest is finished. --Missim 00:52, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
Feast of Boris monsters are "too scary" --Exodisma 18:37, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
Regular (not quest) Crimbo 2009 elves can be copied (confirmed with wrench-thrower) --Kareth 14:09, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
- Uh, wait for a little bit. It appears that the prior days "midboss" is added into the fray.--Toffile 14:45, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
Nemesis quest thugs can be copied, but the main sidekick - e.g. The Mariachi With No Name for ATs - cannot. --Kareth 13:08, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
Looks as if the monsters Down The Rabbit Hole are not copyable - attempting to do so gives "For some reason, you can't bring yourself to make a copy of this monster. It's just too... unique and special.". --Kareth 11:44, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
Always Hit?
Do the monsters always get a hit when using the sheet? I've noticed that even they my moxie is a not-hit levels, when using the sheet against a spider (which is itself from the sheet) I'm getting hit for 1. It's the regular hit message though, not the critical. My question is... is it always a hit, or just a chance for it? --Lordebon 21:17, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- I believe it's +ML. I used it on some sea monsters, and afterwards every turn it was hitting me for ~50. --MrAndersonMan 15:47, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure it's an auto-hit. I'm copying Unholy Divers with my moxie at 913, and I'm funkslinging Miniborg Beepers for ~10 rounds each time (i.e. ~-60-100 ML) before using the putty, i.e. it would have to be at least +267ML for them to hit me (913 - (707 - 60)). After using it, they get one normal hit, then go back to hitting only on criticals. --Exodisma 15:23, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
Hobopolis
Interestingly, a hobo captured in dungeon instance N can be applied to dungeon instance N+1. I was able, for instance, to capture a town square hobo in one dungeon, and after the dungeon was reset I fought my hobo and ended up creating a Richard's part for the current dungeon, even though I haven't entered the sewers. --Fig bucket 22:09, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
Did the hobo show up in dungeon log? If not this could be used to save a few turns in Hobopolis and ultimately make Super Hodgman not obligatory for hamster runs. In a three band run if each member used all 5 uses it would kill about 240 hobos. 105 from kills and ~135 from scarehobos.--Gotmilk 02:30, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
It does show up in the new dungeon log, so no turns actually saved, other than avoiding the need to venture into the sewer. --Fig bucket 11:57, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
What if you copy a monster in instance N and then kill the monster in instance N+1 WITHOUT venturing into the sewer, does this have your name in the log (you'll have to get someone else to look without you going in) and does this make you elegible to have loot distributed to you even though you never really went in. (oh and, good luck understanding THAT sentance) --Mskc 00:02, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
Yes, I think that's exactly what I was describing. --Fig bucket 00:32, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
Just to be clear, if you copy a hobo from instance A, and then fight the monster in instance B, and do no other hobopolis adventures in instance B, are you eligible for loots from instance B?--Alabit 01:14, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
No. Double-checked---while you show up in the logs, you apparently do not show up in the actual drop-down loot distribution list. --Fig bucket 13:06, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
What happens if you use a putty hobo when all the hoboes in the town square are dead and Hodgman is ready for a fight? Do you fight a hobo? Is it added to the log? Are you offered a fight with Hodgman? Also, we know that a killed putty hobo shows up in the log, but do we know if it actually advances Hobopolis? --Quine 08:47, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
I suspect fighting a hobo just before or after Hodgman simple results in a hobo, it doesn't seem to work like adventuring a zone itself so Hodgman is unlikely to come up. But I haven't actually tried. When I last did this, those administering the dungeon told me that while I showed up in the logs (as a TS adventure) the dungeon count was not advanced. I did not show up in the drop-down loot-distribution list, so presumably there's a sewer flag somewhere that has to be set for that. It is not clear if it actually advances Hobopolis---if it did it would allow for 1-turn hamsters (with 600 people cranking away on putty), so that's not likely, but it should be checked. It could be verified by keeping a hobo around from the last dungeon, have someone else enter a fresh dungeon, kill 49 TS hobos, and then refresh and observe after you try your puttied hobo at least once to see if it reaches the 50 threshold and results in the TS image changing from 0 to 1. --Fig bucket 19:11, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
Spooky Putty monsters have no "Memory"
This happened to me as I was collecting today's bounty: [1] It seems that the Skeletal Somelier doesn't "remember" which corner of the Haunted Wine Cellar he was copied from, and I assume the same goes for the Wine Racks. This could potentially be useful. Are there any other monsters that this would apply to, the gremlins maybe? Incidentally, the only +Items I have at this time is Phat Loot. --Urutsini 09:09, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
- Did you do it post-quest? I've noticed that post-quest, when I do this bounty, I end up with 3-4 of each bottle of wine, even if I only stay in one corner picking on them. -- sulfur 11:31, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
Somewhat relevant to the "no memory" discussion, you CAN copy the thieving brigands from the nun's quest... but even after completing the quest the nuns still come and take the meat, giving the same meat amount message that you copied the brigand at. I'd turned in all the meat and the nun still told me almost all the meat was in the hands of the brigands. No easy meatfarm mobs here :( --Denarius 17:28, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
Hey, I got this message and didn't see it on the page:
You can't tell what this is supposed to be a copy of. You squish it back into a sheet. Spooky Putty sheet You acquire an item: Spooky Putty sheet Is it for post-ascension? -odinblade
- See Spooky Putty monster. --Quietust (t|c) 13:56, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
If you copy an underwater monster, do you still have to wear the makeshift SCUBA gear? Are there still the underwater restrictions?--Sacul097 02:09, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
- Just as above, see Spooky Putty monster. --BagatelleT/C 02:15, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
A question on the brigands from the nuns quest, does it remember which outfit you are wearing when you had copied the monster if you don't opt to wear the uniform of choice for what you want from them?--Arashmin 15:47, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
Crimbotown
At least for me, last season I was able to putty/4d camera penguins for crimbux. Argus 23:13, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
