Zapping is an art that changes certain items into items that are related to them. To zap items, players must acquire a wand.
1. The player must first adventure at the Dungeons Of Doom until Izchak's Lighting Store shows up.
2. The player must then purchase the item priced at 5000 meat
3. The player must then defeat the Mimic they have to fight upon purchasing the cloak thingy
4. The player must then use the item dropped by the Mimic
From the looks of it, you can only get one wand per ascension (if anyone has found otherwise, please say so), and after you acquire the wand, the Izchak's Lighting Store adventure will stop showing up. The wand will break after 2 - 5 succesful zaps, so use them wisely!
There are various types of wands, but so far they all appear to do the same thing, which one you get seems to be completely random. (See aluminum wand, ebony wand, hexagonal wand, marble wand, pine wand)
What Can Be Zapped?
It is a group system, and when you zap something you get any other random item from that group (apart from in groups of just two items, when you always get the other item)
The following are some probable groups:
Consumables
- chow meins (tofu, pr0n, knob sausage, bat wing, rat appendix)
- high tier fruit (cherry, lime, jumbo olive)
- base booze (gin, whisky, vodka, rum, tequila, boxed wine)
- evil food (4 items)
- insanely spicy burritos (bean, enchanted bean, jumping bean)
- presumably burritos and spicy burritos also
- TPS drinks (6 items)
- Tier 1 drinks (eg. salty dog, screwdriver) (12 items)
- Tier 2 (disco bandit) drinks (eg. roll in the hay, slap and tickle) (12 items)
- reagent-noodle dishes (hell ramen, spaghetti with Skullheads, fettucini Inconnu, gnocchetti di Nietzsche)
- cookies (white chocolate chip, carob chunk, trollhouse)
- brownies (herb, carob, chorizo)
- spleen items, presumably 3 groups of 3 items
- mushrooms (spooky, knob, knoll)
- 3rd gen mushrooms (flaming, stinky, frozen)
- presumably 2nd gen mushrooms also (cool, warm, flat)
Equipment
- Filthy Hippy Disguise (filthy knitted dread sack/filthy corduroys)
- Furry Suit (wolf mask/furry pants)
- Crimbo Duds (pants, hat, sword)
- Clockwork Apparatus (hat, trenchcoat, pants)
- Yendorian Finery (cornuthaum, vorpal blade, ring of aggravate monster)
- Radio Free Regalia (foil, hat, pants)
- Sneaky Pete day beads (red, green, blue)
- presumably all outfits.
Misc
- gourd quest items (can lid, firecracker, spiderweb)
- pixels (all pixels?)
- basic scrolls (334, 30669, 33398)
- daily dungeon tenth chest items (6 items)
- Pork Elf gems (hamethyst, baconstone, porquoise)
- sewer items (15 items)
- South of the Border gums (4 items)
- barbed-wire fence/white picket fence
- ores (linoleum, asbestos, chrome)
- feng shui items (fountain, windchimes, book)
- letters (metallic A etc.) (5 items)
- ! potions (9 items)
- oyster eggs (32 items)
- cocktailcrafting items (umbrella, coconut shell, ice cubes)
- beans (beans, jumping beans, enchanted bean)
- smithable skins (penguin skin, yak skin, and hippopotamus skin) but not yeti fur
- worthless items (gewgaw, knick-knack, trinket)
Things that need testing
- reagent potions? (probably not zappable but maybe)
- ice cold beer -> ice cold fotie works, but is there more to the group? Imp ale?
- catgut -> batgut, but what about ratgut, rat appendix, bat wing?
"You zap the batgut with your ebony wand.
You acquire an item: catgut"

Final Use
When your Wand explodes:
You zap the mariachi pants with your marble wand. You acquire an item: helmet turtle
The marble wand abruptly explodes, burning your hand pretty badly in the process. You lose 25 hit points.
And when you go to zap something after you have no wand:
Zap Something
You don't have a marble wand anymore... How sad.
References
- This is most likely a reference to "polypiling" in NetHack where a player would drop unneeded items onto the floor and zap them with a wand (or spell) of polymorph in hopes that the useless items will turn into similar (and less useless) items.
- The various names of the wands is also a reference to NetHack, where items that aren't yet identified are given these type of names.
