Gene Tonic

Gene Tonics are potions that can be made with a Little Geneticist DNA-Splicing Lab and some extracted DNA.

Your syringe can only hold one type of DNA at a time, and will only contain the latest target's DNA. The Lab itself does not hold any DNA.

You may make up to 3 Gene Tonic potions per day. The resulting potion is dependent upon the phylum of the DNA in your syringe (see table below). Each potion gives a 30-turn effect.

You may also may hybridize yourself (once per day), which will grant an intrinsic version of whichever DNA is in your syringe. These effects persist even after rollover, but the intrinsic is removed if you choose to hybridize yourself with something else, remove the Lab from Your Workshed, or ascend. Hybridizing yourself removes all DNA from the syringe, but making a gene tonic does not alter the syringe in any way.

It is possible to both hybridize yourself and use a Gene Tonic. However:

  • If you want to make potions and hybridize yourself from a single monster's DNA, you must make the potions first, as hybridization destroys the DNA. (You may, of course, acquire a second sample of the DNA later, from another monster.)
  • If you have both the potion and intrinsic versions of the same effect, they do not stack.
