Having trouble with a monster? You might be able to perform an insta-kill, an action that immediately destroys a monster regardless of how many hit points it has. Be warned though, these attacks won't kill bosses, although some of them deal some damage instead.
Disintegration
Disintegration will automatically kill enemies and force all of their (non-conditional) items to drop. None of these can be used as an insta-kill while you have the Everything Looks Yellow effect. Sources of disintegration:
- Use the Point at your opponent skill while your He-Boulder's eye-beams are yellow
- Use a unbearable light (combat item)
- Use a pumpkin bomb (combat item)
- Use a Golden Light (combat item)
- Use the Unleash Nanites skill while you have 40+ turns of Nanoballsy
- Use a pulled yellow taffy while underwater (combat item)
- Use a yellowcake bomb (combat item; KOLHS only)
- Use the Flash Headlight skill with the ultrabright yellow bulb installed (Avatar of Sneaky Pete only)
- Use the Ball Lightning skill (Heavy Rains only)
- Use the Wrath of Ra skill (Actually Ed the Undying only)
- Use a mayo lance (combat item)
- Use the Open a Big Yellow Present skill (from Crimbo Shrub familiar, decorated with big yellow-wrapped presents)
See yellow ray strategy for more detail.
Combat Items
Using these items doesn't force item drops like disintegration, but they do not have any cooldown period. Most of these items will instead deal damage when used against enemies it can't insta-kill.
- The Bomb blows up anything.
- Sharpened hubcaps have a small (perhaps 25%) chance of insta-kill.
- Bobcat grenades tear Beasts to shreds.
- 4:20 bombs annihilate Hippies.
- Boxes of hammers destroy Constructs.
- Boozebombs take care of Orcs.
- Holy bombs, batman obliterate the Undead.
- A scroll of ancient forbidden unspeakable evil eliminates physically-immune ghosts.
- The world's most dangerous birdhouse renders anything less cohesive, including tower monsters. (KOLHS only)
- A Handsome Devil takes your opponent to Hey Deze and grants a +100% item drop bonus
- A space invader will steal all your opponent's quarters.
- A power pill lets your Puck Man eat your opponent in one gulp, without spending an adventure.
- A nuclear stockpile only works in aftercore during Crimbo of 2015, but it will blast your opponent to fallout without spending an adventure.
- A replica bat-oomerang knocks out a foe three times a day without spending an adventure and is not expended on use.
Monster-specific Items
The following items only work on specific monsters or in a single location.
- An antique hand mirror shatters The Guy Made Of Bees.
- An opium grenade immediately defeats a pair of burnouts and eliminates two additional pairs in the White Citadel Quest.
- A cigarette lighter burns any enemy in A Mob of Zeppelin Protesters as well as 5-7 other protesters.
- A glark cable fries any enemy in The Red Zeppelin at no Adventure cost.
- A plus-sized phylactery vanquishes the Gargantulihc.
- A beehive defeats the wall of skin.
- An electric boning knife deconstructs the wall of bones.
- A drone self-destruct chip dissolves a liquid metal bugbear. (Bugbear Invasion)
- A quantum nanopolymer spider web removes a bugbear scientist. (Bugbear Invasion)
- In the old Sorceress' tower, each of the monsters could be insta-killed by a specific combat item. See this page for a full list of tower monsters and their associated items. In addition, a dumb mud would defeat any tower monster.
Combat Skills
Similar to insta-kill items, these skills do not force item drops like disintegration. In fact, some of them destroy the monster so thoroughly that neither items nor meat will drop.
- Batter Up!
- This skill can only be used by Seal Clubbers with 5 gallons of fury and wielding a club. The monster is also banished until rollover. Gives stats, but no items nor meat.
- Release the Boots
- A skill granted by the Pair of Stomping Boots familiar, can smash an enemy into delicious paste (see Release the Boots for paste details). Gives no stats, items, or meat.
- Carbohydrate Cudgel
- After learning this combat skill from The Machine, you can use it to convert one handful of dry noodles into a massive club that obliterates your foe. Gives stats, but no items nor meat.
- Shattering Punch
- Obtained from a training scroll from the X-32-F Combat Training Snowman, this skill can be used three times a day. It ends combat without costing an adventure and grants stats, meat, and items as normal.
- Fire the Jokester's Gun
- While wielding the Jokester's gun, once per day you may use this skill to kill an enemy without using an adventure.
- Trap Ghost
- This skill appears when wearing a protonic accelerator pack while in combat against a non-boss ghost, after having already used Shoot Ghost three times in the same combat encounter. Not a free adventure (unless it's a special ghost), but it gives the usual item/meat/stat drops with a bonus of +20 substats.
- Bifurcating Blow (Avatar of Boris only)
- This is a combat skill available to players who achieve the maximum rank in the Fighting skill tree as an Avatar of Boris. Costs 10 MP and has a 20 adventure cooldown counter between uses. However, the counter is a removable effect.
- Bear Hug (Zombie Slayer only)
- Feeling low-down? Unappreciated? Want to make a lot of friends? Using this skill in combat will instantly kill your opponent and add him to your ever-growing horde of the undead. (Instant kill only works ten times per day.)
- Walk Away From Explosion (Avatar of Sneaky Pete only)
- Maxing out the Dangerous Rebel rank as an Avatar of Sneaky Pete lets you casually walk away from your opponent as it gets obliterated by an explosion. You'll get Bored With Explosions for 30 adventures afterwards, and the monster will be banished for the duration.
- Lightning Strike (Heavy Rains only)
- Drinking some lightning milk from a storm cow can give you the knowledge to insta-kill your foe for 20 bolts of Lightning, vaporizing them in a flash. In fact, it vaporizes the enemy so fast that you save an Adventure!
