Zone progression mechanics:

• Wanderers: delay = yes, 8-bit/H.Kitchen = yes, Desert = yes
• Changers: delay = yes, 8-bit/H.Kitchen = yes, Desert = no
• Chained fights: delay = yes, 8-bit/H.Kitchen = no, Desert = no

Tricking mafia into thinking rollover hasn't happened:

1. Copy USERNAME_prefs.txt from the settings file to, say, desktop
2. Let rollover happen
3. Log on in mafia, then log off and close mafia
4. Open the newly-updated USERNAME_prefs.txt in the settings file, find the lastCounterDay = NUMBER line, copy the number, and close the file
5. Open the desktop copy you backed up, find its lastCounterDay, overwrite that number with the copied one, and save and close the file
6. Move the desktop copy back into the settings file, overwriting the other
7. Restart mafia, and manually adjust variables moving forward as necessary
