• thanks for the heads up. as it was, the edit on the template looked like it was an edit for the notes section, thus my panic. i'll try again with the reference. --Evilkolbot 11:36, 13 April 2006 (CDT)
  • to go back to the comment on my original edit, could there be a template for common references? bumble bee man is a great favourite, and occurs pretty much wherever bees or anything bee-related intrude on kol. --Evilkolbot 11:41, 13 April 2006 (CDT)

Peeled Eyeballs

Its clearly not +40% items if you do any testing... why did you change it back? +15% seems to be the correct number.

Actually I calculated everything correctly, the person commening made the mistake. Base rate for beans is 50%. 30pounds of fairy love gets it to 30*2.5=+75%. +100% is needed to make beans drop all the time as they have a 50% base rate. Using Eyedrops and a 30 pounds fairy you do NOT get beans to drop every time. This puts the upper limit on the drop rate to be < 25%. Adding a miner's helmet and they STILL don't always drop. Add a baron's monocle however instead and they do always drop. This puts the eyedrops at at least 15% and less than 20%. Since Jick likes mulitples of 5 I put it as 15%, but it could be 17.5%. I'll change it back.--D0om 18:43, 14 May 2006 (CDT)

KWE

I'm not terribly interested in continuing to add the KWE tournaments - if somebody else wants to take care of them (and assuming somebody can figure out the payout rates we missed from the past fights), then whatever. --Quietust 22:40, 21 May 2006 (CDT)

Farming Analysis

The script is ready :)--Dehstil 00:18, 22 May 2006 (CDT)

I ported the fullness data wrong when I copied it. It should be fine now, but all the data will need to be double checked and such. It's also missing foods and booze and is outdated because I copied it from an archive of ohayou's data from last year or something. The script outputs wiki code for the table now, so yay.--Dehstil 22:40, 22 May 2006 (CDT)

Epic Weapons

Considering that weapons have multiple categories, including one-handed weapons and staves/staffs/swords/clubs, the Epic Weapons are somewhat important. Even if there's only six, they still deserve their own category. --Rai 08:48, 25 May 2006 (CDT)

Your auto-gazing script is awesome! It auto-gazes! No more changing the number each time! Thanks! --Echan 08:09, 28 May 2006 (CDT)

That's fantastic that you can set an interval now! How cool! Thanks so much! This really saves my life. No more writing mafia scripts with repetitive observatory.php?action=stargaze&pwd&altitude=10altdec=1azimuth=311&azdec=0&f=Go+Stargazing%21+%281%29 for me. Thank you! :D LucySpace 22:27, 29 May 2006 (CDT)

Needs Content

All-righty. Just seemed silly to have a Needs Content category full of information that no one short of Jick can fix. Makes it very difficult for users to get a quick list of pages to which they can dedicate their time. But, if that's not what that category is for, then so be it. I'll stop. I was just attempting to make that category page more useful like similar category pages on Wikipedia. -- Turias 16:17, 5 June 2006 (CDT)

Edit Wars

Are you an admin? I think we need to do something about MaxDemian. I caught him editing two pages tonight to remove links to other door code generators and include only his, labeled things like "MaxDemian's (The Original)" and similarly self-promoting bullshit. I checked his contributions list, and he has a real history of this sort of thing -- about 90% of his changes have been similar self-promotion ("First spoiled by MaxDemian's Item Database", that kind of thing), which have all been reverted -- sometimes several times in a row -- by whoever happened to notice.

Then after I undid his changes tonight, we got into an edit war as he kept putting them back and I kept undoing them. I think he needs to be blocked for a few days to let him know he can't mess around like that. -- Old Ned 05:46, 7 June 2006 (CDT)

Both of you were being silly, actually. No need to argue through the revert bits. Of course, if you really needed to, I'm sure they can edit protect a page like wikipedia does, but it doesn't need to come down to that, right? --Jonzay 05:52, 7 June 2006 (CDT)
I don't think this matter warrants blocking. While removing other names and adding his own with "the original" is childish, it is certainly not a capital crime. On wikipedia they have something called the 3three-revert rule. On the KoL wiki we tend to not have anything of that nature because KoL is a mature game, with mature players who have common sense. Sure, he probably should not have added himself in such a way. Sure, you were right to revert him the first time, maybe even the second time. But after the third or fourth time it is getting old. Not once did you leave a note on his talk page where you could discuss the reasons why he might not do what he did, not once did you even talk to him (besides leaving messages in recent changes). So here is my suggestion to you; let it be. The only case that would warrant a revert is if he deleted other code solvers. Besides that this issue is much to minor for any more though. --SomeStranger (T | C) 06:16, 7 June 2006 (CDT)
Looking at the history, he actually did delete the links to the other ones at one point. Not that it is any of my buisness, but it was taking up a hefty bit of the recent changes. >.> --Jonzay 07:12, 7 June 2006 (CDT)
I realize that he did delete the other ones. I mentioned in the big block of text above that I did take issue with the removal of other links, not so much with the addition of his own. To reiterate, silly notes about being original, while childish, do not warrant a revert. On the other hand, removing existing links is not permitted.--SomeStranger (T | C) 09:54, 7 June 2006 (CDT)
  • MaxDemian has been known to do such stupid things as this in the past. I'd say if it happens again, it wouldn't be unreasonable to give him a few days off via bannination. He has a tendency to go around putting his name on any page he can think of as well. Keep an eye on him. --jin 22:27, 7 June 2006 (CDT)
    • One reason it annoyed me so much was because I'd just been looking at his contributions list, and the vast majority were the same kind of stuff, where he'd put some self-praise on one page or another and someone else would take it out again, lather-rinse-repeat. So there didn't seem much point in putting a note on his talk page -- he'd already shown a lack of caring what other people thought. I probably got a bit carried away with the revert comments, though. Sorry about that. -- Old Ned 02:51, 8 June 2006 (CDT)

UTF-8 conversions

I just noticed that your bot is changing things like “ and ” to UTF-8 characters, according to the save comments. Unfortunately, it's not changing them to the right characters -- instead of changing them to the "curly" quotes that those entities represent, it's simply changing them to the standard ASCII "typewriter" quotes, which is what we were trying to get away from by using the &blah; codes. (You can see the differences better if you change your default font to something like Times Roman; Arial doesn't show much difference.) Can you fix that, please? -- Old Ned 04:40, 10 June 2006 (CDT)

  • That's odd, I don't even remember replacing quotations. I replaced apostrophes at one point if that is what you are talking about... If that is the case it has something to do with the fact that I have to run it through the windows cmd, which has almost no character support at all =/.--SomeStranger (T | C) 06:30, 10 June 2006 (CDT)
    • You're right, it was apostrophes. I just assumed you were doing the quotes as well. After writing that first comment above, I also noticed that the article where I'd noticed the change had been updated by your bot in May, so it was way too late for you to correct the bot as it had probably finished updating all the pages long before. Oh, well. At least we still have time to figure out a cleaner way to handle the quotes. -- Old Ned 00:26, 17 June 2006 (CDT)
