Talk:Daily Activities
Arena
Can you really use the Arena three times a day? I thought it was only once. --Tripwood 16:09, 28 January 2008 (CST)
- Same. Guess someone needs to test/confirm this. I can see how what the Arena page itself says could be misleading. --Flargen 16:15, 28 January 2008 (CST)
Librams
It seems like it is obvious to mention that libram usage cost gets reset on rollover, but my addition was removed. What is the rationale here? --Jonrock 20:53, 17 February 2008 (CST)
- Because the only thing that limits the use of librams is how much MP you have, which is a very mutable quantity. This is true for EVERY skill that consumes MP, and as such is not worth mentioning on a page about things that have daily limitations (unless we wish to be insane and list all such skills). --Flargen 20:56, 17 February 2008 (CST)
- I disagree. Yes, all other skills are limited in usage by the amount of MP you can restore during a day. However, since the cost of using librams increases with every usage, they are the only skill(s) limited in usage by your MP maximum. The fact that this rising cost gets reset by rollover should be relevant. --Jonrock 21:01, 17 February 2008 (CST)
- It is relevant to librams, yes, and as such it is mentioned on their pages and the bookshelf pages. Your maximum MP is very mutable as well, and there is no upper bound on maximum MP, at least that anyone has yet to find (and probably ever will). --Flargen 21:04, 17 February 2008 (CST)

- As has been mentioned already, the MP cost of a Libram is definitely not really comparable to every other spell. I'd also like to point out that a large portion of the ascending player base is bound to be level 13 or lower, and the supposed infinite mana pools that they'd have would therefore simply not exist. When I'm not in BM I definitely consider summoning Hearts/Divine items a "daily and bounded" activity. Bakapyrite 23:13, 17 February 2008 (CST)
There's no limit to your maximum level, so why is donating to the halls on this list? --Jonrock 21:07, 17 February 2008 (CST)
- Because it's a readily computed formula for any character, with only a slight stat dependency and NO dependency upon equipment or status effects. Assuming it's up-to-date and accounts for every possibility properly, I suppose you could use the KoL Diety entries on the maximimizing your MP and Myst pages to try to come up with a formula for maximum MP based on current Myst, but this formula will change every time a better item gets introduced into the kingdom. And the formula will be discontinuous (or at best piecewise continuous) with Myst, anyway, since at sufficiently high Myst something like a drywall axe becomes more effective than the usual +Myst equipment. Plus at sufficiently ridiculous myst levels you'll probably have more limitations from the speed of your connection to the server than anything else. --Flargen 21:33, 17 February 2008 (CST)
- I agree with Jonrock in that the Librams should be on this page. These Daily Activities generally list counters that are limited in times used or done every day. I would think that you will not be able to use a libram infinite times because no matter what the MP cost will eventually reach or exceed your own maximum MP. In addition, most of the items on the list mentioned reset each rollover or ascension, like the Librams. --CG1:t,c,e 21:38, 17 February 2008 (CST)
- Dependence on equipment and buffs is disallowed? So you'll be removing the PvP section, then? Instead of such contorted logic, how about defining what belongs on this list with six simple words: "The counter gets reset at rollover." --Jonrock 21:48, 17 February 2008 (CST)
To me, the bottom line is usefulness. No one will be harmed by the presence of the Librams on this page, and if someone is using it to remember their daily "chores", they would find mention of the Librams useful. --Starwed 21:51, 17 February 2008 (CST)
Since the prevailing opinion is against me, I suppose it will have to be added back in. But for the record:
- Even at low levels the primary impediment to casting hearts is how much MP you can acquire, not your maximum MP, just like any other skill. It doesn't take very many skills before you can have a high enough max MP to (hypothetically) summon 9 or 10 in a day at level 1. Actually acquiring enough MP to create that many, however, is another story entirely. Especially if you want to cast anything else that day. Just as with any other skill. The primary distinction is that it hits the MP acquisition ceiling faster than any other skill.
- Your number of PvP fights can only be boosted in a very limited number of ways. The number of ways to boost your myst and max MP, even in hardcore or BM, is frankly ridiculous (and I don't mean "11"). I'll go out on a limb and say this playing field will never level. "PvP fights" is a much simpler, much more limited beast.
- Libram (and tome and grimoire) skills can be made to appear in your list of skills through your account settings. It's no more difficult to remember than any other skill that consumes MP. Point being, it's just another MP consuming skill.
--Flargen 00:21, 18 February 2008 (CST)
- "Point being, it's just another MP consuming skill." "The primary distinction is that it hits the MP acquisition ceiling faster than any other skill." Also.... "Even at low levels the primary impediment to casting hearts is how much MP you can acquire, not your maximum MP, just like any other skill." You're clearly contradicting yourself here, you just don't seem to want to put the pieces together. Edit: And a softcore character with unlimited meat could cast an unlimited amount of any normal spell. They'd still have to stop casting Hearts/Favors eventually because they'd reach the max mana amount. Until the next day. Bakapyrite 16:07, 18 February 2008 (CST)
- I'd say that one person will eventually be limited in the number of candy hearts summoned. Let's say that your max MP (after buffs, etc.) is 150. Then, your max number of candy hearts summonable is 17, as the 18th candy heart costs 154 MP, and your max MP is 150. As 154>150, you cannot summon 18 candy hearts, only 17. Now take an ambiguous max MP, X. You can only summon candy hearts such that the mp cost of summoning the Nth candy heart is less than X. Therefore, the number of candy hearts summonable per day is limited by max MP, so it should be put on this page. --CG1:t,c,e 16:44, 18 February 2008 (CST)
- You missed the point entirely. Acquiring the MP to summon all 17 hearts without neglecting the use of other skills typically used in a run--or even when ignoring them--is where the bottleneck is, not your maximum MP. You'll need something like a decent weight and well-stocked frobo/hobo or a lot of meat to burn on MMJ. It takes 833 MP to get all 17, after all. That's no meager amount (some 40+ MMJs alone at level 10). I can easily get my max MP to much greater (relative) heights than I can my MP restore during most of the run. Including in BM. My last run my TT had more MP than HP from about levels 3 to 9, but I rarely had more MP than I needed just to keep the starting buff going. Even during crimbo, when I was just power leveling and/or item farming (and could use buffbots for most of my needs), I was nearing my last adventures for the day by the time I had encountered the max MP barrier, and I wasn't even trying to get my max MP higher. I was just using what I naturally had from stats, equipment, and buffs. If your sole purpose is to summon a ton of hearts (say you want a mall monopoly), then yes you have a tangible daily limit (which could hypothetically be computed if one were to trudge through every possible MP/myst buff and then acquire all of the best ones). But for practical purposes the issue is exactly the same is it is for, say, Empathy of the Newt: MP acquisition. --Flargen 17:38, 18 February 2008 (CST)
- However, there is a MP cost counter that resets upon rollover (or ascension), unlike most other skills like empathy, where the MP cost does not reset. In addition, as the MP cost increases as more hearts (or favors) are summoned, there is more of a limit to the Librams than normal buffs. --CG1:t,c,e 19:06, 18 February 2008 (CST)

Reorganization
One person suggested separating out the VIP stuff from the Clan stuff. My thought is that maybe a section for copied combats would be nice. Also, for brickos and hipster fights maybe - combats that don't take an adventure.
Other thoughts? --Orbrisa 18:03, 27 July 2011 (CEST)
- It has grown poorly. It looked so neat and tidy when I first made the page. Part of the poor growth is including all of the conditions. How many free rests do you get a day? How many free runaways? Some of those things need to be fixed. Maybe something like this:

Limited cast AT skills
Currently it is listing the effect as limited. That's wrong you can get tons of them from records now. What is limited is the skill casting. Also, somehow "Prelude of Precision" is missing from the list. --Bale 03:02, 16 September 2011 (CEST)
- While the special AT songs may be much more available ever since you can put them on wax, as far as I know the number of times you can play the songs is still limited. After all this is a list of things you can do by yourself, not receive. --Yatsufusa 03:45, 16 September 2011 (CEST)
Exactly so. Perhaps I wasn't clear. The AT songs are listed as class "buff". However, as you say, there is not limited on getting the buff. What matters is the number of times you can play the song. However there is no class that seems to fit. Should a new classification like "skill" be invented? --Bale 09:19, 17 September 2011 (CEST)
The Florist Friar's Cottage
Should The Florist Friar's Cottage be mentioned, as the number of usages is limited per day? "You may only plant 1 of each plant variety per day (across all zones of each terrain type)." --MageRed (talk) 01:06, 15 July 2013 (UTC)
- Yes. The Florist should be added. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 01:54, 15 July 2013 (UTC)
