11,037 Leagues Under the Sea

11,037 Leagues Under the Sea is the Fall 2025 special challenge path, introduced on August 15th, 2025. This path adds variant rules and restrictions to an ascension run. Its description in The Bureau of Reincarnation reads "Fight the sorceress at the end of the Kingdom's underwater content instead of at the top of a tower."

Restrictions

• Any areas that would normally be opened by the Council remain unavailable; this includes the entirety of the Woods, Mt. McLargeHuge, etc.
• You cannot drop the path until day 4:

  Exploring the sea requires a 3 day commitment.

  • Unlike BIG!, dropping the path does not decrease your stats.
• Most of the quest-relevant items cannot be pulled from Hagnk's, even in softcore. Click "Expand" to see the list:
  

Divergences

• Your adventure begins with Under the Sea.
• You start at level 20, with 365 mainstat and 300 offstats.
• Instead of the normal, land-based quests, the Council tasks you with doing the quests in The Sea that are normally done in Aftercore.
  • The Council doesn't give you a strange leaflet either.
• Instead of choosing to fight either Shub-Jigguwatt, Elder God of Violence or Yog-Urt, Elder Goddess of Hatred, you will fight both. And then Her Naughtiness herself.
• Facing the Nautical Seaceress requires collecting five unblemished pearls, a new item added to slow down this challenge path. Wand of Nagamar is not required.
• Additionally, you must resolve The Skate Park side quest, return the Old Man's damp old boot, and rescue Mom.
• 1-9? sand pennies drop after every combat.
• The Old Man has opened up a shop, Wet Crap For Sale, where you can spend those sand pennies.
• The Mer-kin lockkey won't drop until you spend 24-26 turns in the outpost.
• Mer-kin prayerbeads are more effective than normal against Yog-Urt, Elder Goddess of Hatred. With 3 prayerbeads equipped, only 2 healing items are needed to lose Suckrament.
• Shub-Jigguwatt's initial attack and defense are reduced by 250 points each time you lose.

Aftercore

• Wet Crap For Sale disappears when you free King Ralph, so be sure to spend your sand pennies first!
• After freeing King Ralph, the Council will revert to normal, and spam you with all the normal quests, which are optional.

Strategy

General Strategy

• Most of what you need to do is already covered in the Sea Monkees Quest article.

• Player dev Cannonfire40 wrote a forum post about "tweaks" made to The Sea to coincide with this path. (Click "Show" to see the spoiler-tagged list.)

• The September 1st nerfs mean that you must now plan for acquiring five unblemished pearls, and can no longer pull most quest-relevant items from Hagnk's. More information on these below.
• Before you ascend, you should unlock the (newly) permanent sea unlocks.

• Unlock The Dive Bar, The Marinara Trench, Anemone Mine, The Skate Park and Madness Reef.
• Install a sushi-rolling mat.

• Getting and maintaining the Fishy buff is very important.

• The skate blade resolution to The Skate Park gives 30 turns of Fishy once per day. (Chase out the roller skates gang with the skate blade equipped.) Since you must do this side quest anyway, this is the better reward, unless you have a better source of Fishy.
• The Lucky! adventure in The Brinier Deepers gives 20 turns of Fishy.

• Other useful Lucky! adventures:

• A Drawer of Chests in the The Mer-Kin Outpost: 15-20 sand dollars, which may help you buy the damp old boot.
• A University of Fish in the The Caliginous Abyss: fish scales, which may help in crafting outfits.

• Ask Grandpa about "scales" to convert lesser scales into greater ones at The Economist of Scales.
• When mining to craft teflon swim fins, bear in mind that clicking on the "Last Adventure" link may not let you mine. You should only enter Anemone Mine from the map, unless your Last Adventure link says Anemone Mine (Mining).
• Your five required unblemished pearls drop faster the more Elemental Resistance you have. Each of the five zones that drop them require a different element; see the item's page for details.
• The Mer-kin Outpost has a base combat rate of 100%, so you must increase the non-combat rate for the Into the Outpost encounter to occur.
• Remember, sea cowboy hat and sea chaps greatly help in learning to lasso.

• Relatedly, don't turn in the damp old boot too early. The easiest way to wear both the cowboy hat and the chaps is with an old scuba tank on your back. But you can't buy it after you turn in the boot!

• Wrong guesses on the Mer-kin dreadscroll give up to 24 turns of Deep-Tainted Mind, so don't delay learning the language.

• And make sure you've permed Deep Dark Visions, you're very unlikely to get that drop in-run.
• You probably also want to have a Mer-kin knucklebone available to pull if playing softcore.

• The buff to Mer-kin prayerbeads means that, with beads in all three slots, you only need to survive two rounds to lose the More Like a Suckrament effect. Thus, sea gel and waterlogged scroll of healing from Wet Crap For Sale are sufficient, unless your max HP is too high.

• Getting beaten up by Deep Dark Visions is a convenient way to decrease your max HP against Yog-Urt, if needed.

• The Ators Gonna Ate noncombat adventure at Mer-kin Gymnasium is thought to be weird in two ways:

• Even though it's a noncombat adventure, it appears to respond to combat rate increasers, unlike normal noncombats.
• It is thought that having a noncombat forcer active could prevent this adventure from showing up. For, say, 176 turns before they realized...

• If you're planning to use the Mer-kin weapons (dodgeball, dragnet, and switchblade) in the Mer-kin Colosseum, be sure to learn the weapons' nine combat skills by landing enough critical hits with each.
• Alternatively, spells can be used to skip the weapons altogether. Weapon of the Pastalord (or the 120MP Hobopolis skills) plus lanterns such as big hot pepper and petrified wood water purifier certainly work, as may other strategies.

• The Foul Ball familiar is a readily accessible, if moderately expensive, lantern.
• If you're more muscular than mystical, Turtleini may be a viable pick.

• Shub-Jigguwatt, Elder God of Violence now gets weaker the more you lose to him.
• As a quality-of-life strategy for quickly depleting your MP before fighting Shub-Jigguwatt: Right-click a buff spell on your Skills page and enter * into the "How Many Times?" box. KoL will cast as many of that buff as you have MP for.

Class Choice

• Accordion Thief is fantastic for characters with Mr Store items, such as getting Fishy from Black and White Apron Meal Kit, getting a free guild unlock from tearaway pants (and so easy access to shadow bricks), getting pocket wish facts from flaming leaflets.

• You should buy an antique accordion, which can be done by using the game command /go antiques without unlocking the beach. There are no accordions to steal in the Sea.

• If you don't have any IOTMs that grant pocket wishes/fish meat/seaweed based on your class, Seal Clubber has an additional banisher (Batter Up!), while Sauceror has an extremely easy time with combat and MP generation.

Astral gear and consumables

• Starting at level 20 means that astral pilsner is at full power immediately.
• The Sea's penalties to item drops counsel in favor of astral mask, unless your accessory slots are already full of +item% Items of the Month.

• Alternatively, astral pet sweater can help your Grouper Groupie boost your +item% (if you don't have August scepter for tiny gold medal).

• Owners of prismatic beret may find astral shirt (which has 50 Power, not doubled by Tao) useful for achieving some hard-to-reach busks.

Moon Sign

• Sea chaps, sea cowboy hat, and teflon swim fins no longer require Armorcraftiness, so Innabox can save you three turns there if you don't have enough free crafting skills/items.
• Sushi did not trigger the +5 adventures from the The Opossum last time anyone checked, so someone planning an all-sushi run would want to avoid that sign.
• The Packrat is good for +item drops; The Blender is good for +5 turns.

Food, Drink, and Other Consumables

• Nigiri is easily accessible.

IotM / IotY

• Black and White Apron Meal Kit can grant Fishy when given a displaced fish, which can be pulled, summoned or — for ATs with Just the Facts — is a guaranteed drop from frogs from CLEESH.
• Deleveling items for use against Shub-Jigguwatt, Elder God of Violence:

• Wishing or mimic-egging to fight any of the black crayon monsters will let you get crayon shavings.
• The Leprecondo can supply a table tennis ball.

• Book of facts won't give the Fishy effect in this path, but it will drop fish meat for sushi from various monsters, depending on your class.

• Recall Facts: Monster Habitats is useful in The Mer-Kin Outpost because you are required to spend ~25 turns there anyway, so you might as well fight some black crayon monsters or fish-meat-droppers or whatever else you need.

• Likewise, any of the unblemished pearl zones are good targets for Monster Habitats.

• Don't forget your various ways of making combats free, e.g., shadow brick, Assert your Authority, Darts: Aim for the Bullseye, groveling gravel, spitball.
• Likewise, remember free-fight banishers: anchor bomb, stuffed yam stinkbomb, handful of split pea soup, scoop of pre-workout powder.
• Items that force noncombats, such as Cincho de Mayo, Allied Radio Backpack, handheld Allied radio, Apriling band tuba, and McHugeLarge left ski can help in several places in the run, such as The Wreck of the Edgar Fitzsimmons, The Skate Park, Mer-kin Elementary School, and Mer-kin Library.

• Not all noncombat adventures can be forced, so the Peace Turkey is still useful for that.

• If 3 clovers aren't enough, Lucky! can also be had from Apriling band saxophone (thrice) and August scepter (once).
• Cursed monkey's paw can get you many of the items you need, with the caveat that the zone where they drop has to be accessible to you. In particular, make sure you and your familiar can breathe when you wish.
• Patriotic Eagle can pledge allegiance to An Octopus's Garden for +30% item drops.

• The zone-clearing power of Red, White and Blue Blast is also good in Octopus's Garden, and elsewhere.

• CyberRealm (accessed with server room key or 3d printed server room key) can be useful for rescuing Mom, when used with other items. First, use Patriotic Screech on a wished-for or mimic-egged-for monster of the Construct phylum — specifically, a Black Crayon Golem for the crayon shavings, as mentioned above. Then, cast Recall Facts: Monster Habitats onto a slithering thing or an eye in the darkness and adventure in Cyberzone 1. With the other monsters banished, use the multi-damage familiar Glover to fight the monster there. Glover damage scales with Familiar Weight, so buff weight. The skill OVERCLOCK(10) makes the first 10 fights in CyberRealm free.

• CyberRealm also grants access to Synapse Blaster, which could help if you're struggling with Elemental Resistance when hunting for unblemished pearls.

• S.I.T. alumni can use the lantern big hot pepper against gladiators even in hardcore.
• 2002 Mr. Store can help with farming sea lassos or sea cowbells through both the Spooky VHS Tape and pro skateboard.
• In addition to shadow bricks, closed-circuit pay phone is useful for the -combat frequency and +item drops of Shadow Waters.
• The Leprecondo can help any way you want it to: Adventure generation (food and drink), banish (scoop of pre-workout powder), monster duplication (phosphor traces), deleveling (table tennis ball), -combat frequency (Tired Muscles), +combat frequency (leprechaun antidepressant pill), free crafts (crafting plans).
• The Monodent of the Sea can help you get fish meat and scales, and has a banish, but the devs made it at a time when they were desperate to slow down the speed of this path, so its turn-saving potential is unclear.

Softcore-specific stratagems

• Many of the things mentioned in the IotM / IotY section can be bought from the mall and pulled: Black and White Apron Meal Kit, pocket wish, table tennis ball, Spooky VHS Tape, pro skateboard, various free fights and banish items.
• Fishy pipe gives 10 turns of Fishy once per day.
• Damp old wallet, grants over 50 sand dollars, if you have one to pull from a previous ascension.
• Dark porquoise ring can help with deleveling Shub-Jigguwatt, Elder God of Violence, but it's unnecessary if you have 4+ crayon shavings.
• Mer-kin pinkslip lets you escape combat without spending an adventure; Mafia middle finger ring does the same and banishes.
• Mer-kin sneakmask and Mer-kin hidepaint are not subject to the normal cap on combat frequency decreasers, and so might be worth a pull (or a wish).
• Minin' dynamite can save you a turn mining.
• Elf Guard SCUBA tank lets you wear your water-breathing on your back without the expense and item drop penalty of old SCUBA tank (useful for training lasso skill).
• Some quest-relevant items can still be pulled, even with the September 1st nerfs:

• scale-mail underwear
• sea lasso
• sea cowbell
• Mer-kin knucklebone
• Mer-kin wordquiz
• Mer-kin cheatsheet

Hardcore-specific stratagems

• Post-nerf softcore is not that different from hardcore, so now most strategies are general ones.

Boss Fights

• Some information on fighting Shub-Jigguwatt and Yog-Urt can be found on their respective pages. However, they assume you are in aftercore, and they recommend items that may not be available in-run.

• The best way to approach Shub-Jigguwatt is to buff your muscle and moxie, and to use deleveling items until he stops being a threat. Some choices available in-run include table tennis ball (via Leprechaun's Condo) and crayon shavings (via the Mimic DNA Bank or a pocket wish.) If you spent a lot of time in The Coral Corral, you may have a spare sea lasso and/or sea cowbell. Likewise, Mer-kin mouthsoap is an option.
• If you have three Mer-kin prayerbeads equipped, you only need to survive against Yog-Urt for a few rounds. Bringing a sea gel, a Mer-kin healscroll and a waterlogged scroll of healing into the fight should get you there.

• The Nautical Seaceress does not perform any of her usual tricks. This is a regular fight against a monster with high stats. If you are struggling against her, remember that Wet Crap For Sale offers many powerful stat buffs.

Rewards

• Thwaitgold lobster statuette
• Durable dolphin whistle, a reusable version of the dolphin whistle that gains an extra use each time you complete a run (two for hardcore).
• Both a Violent Vestments and a Hateful Habiliment outfit piece.
• Up to five Instant Karma in a single ascension: One from each of the three bosses, one from freeing King Ralph XI, and one if you do the Nemesis Quest in Aftercore.
• In Hardcore, the Nautical Seaceress additionally drops the appropriate stainless steel reward for your class.

History

• As originally implemented, this path was very fast — the fastest softcore ascension was 31 turns. On September 1st (two weeks after launch), nerfs were added to slow the path down: the softcore pull restrictions, and requiring five unblemished pearls. The leaderboards were split into "11,037 Leagues Under the Sea (pt. 1)" and "11,037 Leagues Under the Sea (pt. 2)."
