Turtle Tamers have the ability to find and tame various turtles, which in turn provide items, equipment, and familiars.
Turtle Tamers have the ability to find and tame various turtles, which in turn provide items, equipment, and familiars.

Turtle Tamers make progress in encountering a Turtle Taming adventure for a specific zone every time they win a combat. Each zone has its own counter for the amount of turns required until a Turtle Taming adventure occurs. Therefore, spending turns in another zone will not make progress in encountering a Turtle Taming adventure for other zones.

Turtle Tamers make progress in encountering a turtle taming adventure for a specific zone every time they win a combat, which can be decreased with items with the effect "Helps You Tame Turtles". The following have the "Helps You Tame Turtles" effect:
When defeating a copied monster, you will make progress in the last zone you've adventured in. This allows you to encounter Turtle Taming adventures even in zones that contain no monsters.
* Eau de Tortue, from turtle pheromones (30 Adventures)

* turtling rod/Flail of the Seven Aspects (Cannot be stacked with each other)
The delay for the first Turtle Taming adventures is significantly shorter than subsequent Turtle Taming adventures. Either delay can be decreased with items with the effect "Helps You Tame Turtles". The following have the "Helps You Tame Turtles" effect:
* Garter of the Turtle Poacher
*Eau de Tortue, from turtle pheromones (30 Adventures)
*turtling rod/Flail of the Seven Aspects (Does not stack with each other)
*Garter of the Turtle Poacher
*Song of the Southern Turtle, from Turtle voicebox (15 Adventures)

Higher level turtles also require a turtling rod or Flail of the Seven Aspects equipped and possibly a Grinning Turtle or Syncopated Turtle as your active familiar.
Turtles
* Finding a turtle does not consume an adventure.
* You can only encounter a turtle taming adventure once in a zone per ascension.
** Most zones have only one turtle, but some zones, Belowdecks, The Haunted Laundry Room, and The Haunted Wine Cellar, have two.  Finding the second turtle takes longer.
* Clover Adventures do not override taming, but some Wandering monsters may.
* Adventures lower than you are capable of will still occur. For example, you can still get a blue shell with a turtling rod in your hand.

For zones that have two possible turtles, these adventures are chosen randomly each time the Turtle Taming counter runs out, and either adventure can appear on the same zone.

*Turtle Taming was revamped on July 15, 2014. Previously, Eau de Tortue was required to encounter the Turtle Taming adventures, which gave a Turtle Taming adventure at a random time. Some turtles also required a turtling rod to tame, and some also required a Grinning Turtle or Syncopated Turtle as their active familiar as well. New turtles were also added in the revamp. See Turtle Taming/Old for more information.

This page is in need of content.

Confirm number of turns required to get a turtle.

Some zones may be inaccurate due to changes on August 5.

Change on October 7th, 2015 means stat recommendations in new zones have been adjusted

When defeating a copied monster, you will make progress in the last zone you've adventured in. This allows you to encounter Turtle Taming adventures even in zones that contain no monsters.

The delay for the first Turtle Taming adventures is significantly shorter than subsequent Turtle Taming adventures. Either delay can be decreased with items with the effect "Helps You Tame Turtles". The following have the "Helps You Tame Turtles" effect:

Number of effects 1st Encounter delay Subsequent delay
0 7 70?
1 5 39-41
2 3 22-23
3 2 19-21
4 2 15?

Notes

History

 • Turtle Taming was revamped on July 15, 2014.
